Schiumer says Cannon's dismissal of the documents case is misguided.

Trump reportedly to reveal vice-presidential pick today; Schumer calls Trump case dismissal ‘breathtakingly misguided’ – live | Donald Trump | The Guardian

    excerpt:

"The judge’s ruling “flies in the face of long-accepted practice and repetitive judicial precedence,” Schumer said in a statement shared by Fox News’s Chad Pergram.

It is wrong on the law and must be appealed immediately. This is further evidence that Judge Cannon cannot handle this case impartially and must be reassigned."

Just after the Supreme Court gave immunity to Trump, he asked Judge Cannon to throw out the federal documents case in Florida. And she did.

In the Supreme Court immunity ruling, Justice Clarence Thomas added an extraneous opinion that he felt Jack Smith didn't have the authority to be a special counsel. It was a sleazy approach because it didn't involve the immunity ruling.

But Thomas' opinion about Jack Smith signaled to Trump and Judge Cannon that at least he at the Supreme Court is willing to entertain a fringe claim that Jack Smith wasn't appointed properly.

Trump didn't waste any time in requesting Cannon to dismiss the documents case. Cannon didn't waste any time dismissing the case.

The Supreme Court gave Trump immunity on July 1. Cannon dismissed the documents case against Trump on July 15.

Jack Smith can appeal to the Appeals Court. If he wins, Trump would appeal to the Supreme Court where he has at least Thomas on his side.

Whether it makes it to the Supreme Court depends on whether Trump is elected in November 2024. If he becomes president, he can have the DOJ dismiss or stonewall the two federal cases against him and make everything moot.

If Jack Smith appealed and won and Trump subsequently appealed to the Supreme Court and won, an option is still available for the documents case to be handle by a prosecutor in the Southern District of Florida. The case would have to start by presenting evidence to a grand jury all over again.

By that time, Trump may already be president again.

Not counting the documents case in FL that was just dismissed by Cannon, the two remaining cases for Trump that haven't yet been decided by a trial are the federal election subversion case and the GA election subversion case.

Trump's NY criminal conviction (whose sentencing has already been delayed until at least September, if it will even be necessary) and the GA criminal case could also be dismissed based on the Supreme Court's immunity ruling.

If not dismissed, they can be dragged out for months to a year with squabbling over what evidence is permissible if it involves Trump's actions while he was still in the White House.

Jack Smith is also the prosecutor for the federal election subversion case in DC. Judge Chutkan is overseeing that case and is not like Cannon who dismissed the federal documents case in FL.

The Supreme Court's immunity ruling, the assassination attempt on Trump, the delay of his criminal conviction sentencing in NY (that was to occur a few days before the start of the RNC convention), and Cannon's dismissal of the federal documents case against him today are great cannon fodder (Aileen Cannon fodder) for Trump's RNC convention this week and for the November 2024 election.

Meanwhile, to keep pace with Trump, Biden seems like he needs to commit some felonies, be convicted of at least one of them, and have someone take a pot shot at him that he barely survives.

Elon Musk is blaming diversity programs for supposedly degrading the Secret Service..

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/tech...-musk-billionaires-trump-shooting-dei-antifa/

    excerpt:

"Musk, turning to a familiar refrain of his, appeared to point the finger for the security breach at Diversity, Equity and Inclusion efforts — amplifying a post that ridiculed the U.S. Secret Service’s director for what it called “diversity hires.” The argument is being made on many right-wing political accounts, which have also called out individual female Secret Service agents. Musk had previously directed that argument at the airline industry, drawing condemnation over the insinuation that diversity efforts left the skies less safe, news outlets reported.

“It will take an airplane crashing and killing hundreds of people for them to change this crazy policy of DIE,” Musk wrote, in what appeared to be a deliberate misspelling."

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/tech...-musk-billionaires-trump-shooting-dei-antifa/

    excerpt:

"After Ackman issued his endorsement, Musk then reposted his message, as did Maguire, a venture capitalist with Sequoia Capital and friend of Musk, who praised “people that are willing to change their minds as new data comes in.”

Maguire later posted — without providing evidence — that the shooter “will almost certainly be discovered to be a member” of the left-wing group antifa.

Authorities identified the shooter as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks, of Bethel Park, Pa. Voter status records showed he was registered as a Republican, The Washington Post has reported."

    Trump was supposedly anti-billionaire, anti-Wall Street, anti-Big Tech, anti-crypto currency, and anti-TikTok.

He said he was for the little guy farmer and coal miner.

He changed his stance to the opposite.

    https://www.cnn.com/2024/07/15/politics/2024-campaign-transformed-analysis/index.html

    excerpt:

"There can be no justification for an assassination attempt on a candidate — an assault on democracy. But if the attack on Saturday sprung from a fetid political culture, Trump has been an enthusiastic participant with rhetoric that often seemed to incite violence and that coarsened the public square. This included his racist conspiracy theories about the birthplace of former President Barack Obama and apparent mockery of the injuries suffered by Paul Pelosi, the husband of former Speaker Nancy Pelosi who was attacked with a hammer inside his home. The ex-president’s summoning of protesters to Washington on January 6, 2021, and his call for them to “fight like hell” preceded the assault on the US Capitol and the beating of police officers by his supporters.

Trump faces a choice. He could interpret the assassination attempt as a catalyst for less poisoned rhetoric. This could be a politically astute move at a time when many Americans are feeling frightened. His past conduct, however, would mean many voters would struggle to believe him."

A sampling of Fact-checks of first debate.

Although he made statements with a confident voice, many of Trump's statement were false. Other times he didn't answer the question and diverted to talking about the Mexican border.

2024 presidential debate: Fact-checks of Biden and Trump

    excerpt:

Trump: Biden "allowed millions of people to come in here from prisons, jails and mental institutions."
    Pants on Fire!

Biden: "I've changed (the law) in the way that now you're in a situation where there are 40% fewer people coming across the border illegally."
    Mostly True.

Trump: "We had the safest border in the history of our country."
    Mostly False.

Biden: While talking about a bipartisan border bill, "by the way, the Border Patrol endorsed me, endorsed my position."
    Half True.

Trump: Biden allowed in "18 million people."
    False

Trump: "The problem (Democrats) have is they're radical, because they will take the life of a child in the eighth month, the ninth month, and even after birth."
    False.

Trump: "He caused this inflation. I gave him a country with … essentially no inflation. It was perfect."
    Mostly False.
    .
Trump: "You look at the cost of food, where it's double, triple and quadruple."
    False.

Biden: "Economists say (Trump’s proposed tariffs are) going to cost the average American $2,500 a year or more."
    Mostly True.

Biden: Semiconductor jobs "to build these chips … pay over $100,000. You don’t need a college degree for them."
    Mostly False.

Biden: "Black unemployment is the lowest level it’s been in a long, long time."
    Mostly True.

Trump: "The only jobs (Biden) created are for illegal immigrants and bounce-back jobs, bounce-back from the COVID."
    False.

Trump: Biden "indicted me because I was his opponent."
    False.

Remember: On January 6th., it was Vice President Mike Pence who :"held the leash"
and voted to approve the election results.

Who will " Hold the Leash" Now? Is anyone capable??

Its up to The Republican Party to approve the VP.

    I smell a stooge, a lightweight.

Could Niki Haley Hold the Leash??
