Like many others, journalist and co-founder of Politico, John Harris, underestimated Trump in December 2020.

In an article written today, he acknowledged his error.

    Article from December 2020.

Relax, A Trump Comeback In 2024 Is Not Going To Happen
We’ve seen this president’s type before. They always fade away.

Relax, A Trump Comeback In 2024 Is Not Going To Happen

    excerpt:

"Most important are the abundant precedents suggesting Trump does not have another important act in national politics. The perception that Trump will remain relevant hinges on the possibility that he is a unique historical figure. Trump, however, is singular in one sense only: No politician of his stripe has ever achieved the presidency. In multiple other ways, he is a familiar American type, anticipated by such diverse figures as Joseph McCarthy, George Wallace, and Ross Perot.

Like Trump, they all possessed flamboyant, self-dramatizing personas. They tapped into genuine popular grievance toward elites, and had ascendant moments in which they caused the system to quake and intimidated conventional politicians of both parties. In every case, their movements decayed rapidly. Cults of personality in American politics are quite common. But they never live long, and Trump has offered no reason to suppose he will be an exception."

Trump is the only convicted felon to win a U.S. presidential election.

Trump has the distinction of both being the first former president to become a convicted felon after leaving office and being reelected as a convicted felon.

Trump also has the distinction of someone who could be sentenced to jail while being president-elect in his reelection.

List of ex-leaders who became convicts. It appears that none in the list were convicted felons at the time they won the election.

Sources say Harris will make a concession speech at 4 pm on Wednesday.

Trump never made a concession speech after he lost the 2020 election. The closest such remark he made was that transition of power would happen on January 20, 2021, and that statement was the day after his riot at the Capitol.

Trump capitalized by instilling fear into the public about immigrants and the economy.

    https://www.nytimes.com/2024/11/06/us/politics/trump-wins-presidency.html

    excerpt:

"In a deeply divided nation, voters embraced Mr. Trump’s pledge to seal the southern border by almost any means, to revive the economy with 19th-century-style tariffs that would restore American manufacturing and to lead a retreat from international entanglements and global conflict.

Now, Mr. Trump will serve as the 47th president four years after reluctantly leaving office as the 45th, the first politician since Grover Cleveland in the late 1800s to lose re-election to the White House and later mount a successful run. At the age of 78, Mr. Trump has become the oldest man ever elected president, breaking a record held by President Biden, whose mental competence Mr. Trump has savaged.

His win ushers in an era of uncertainty for the nation."

In 1988 George H.W. Bush became the first sitting VP of an outgoing administration to be elected president since 1836.

Harris has become a sitting VP who failed to be elected.

The four sitting VP's who have been elected president: John Adams in 1796, Thomas Jefferson in 1800, Martin Van Buren in 1836, and George H. W. Bush in 1988.

During the 2024 campaign, Trump pledged 20% across the board import tariffs, a 60% tariff on China, and a 200% tariff on John Deere. If he follows through on such wide-ranging tariffs, they will be inflationary, more so than his less sweeping tariffs during his first term whose damage the public didn't experience the full brunt.

Although some of his supporters apologize for him and say it's just a scare tactic (like the various other scare tactics that he used to dupe them into voting for him), Trump says he intends to follow through on those pledges.

Donald Trump's Criminal Cases: What Happens Now?

    excerpt:

"Trump's criminal cases might be excused altogether now that he has been elected president, should any form of punishment or imprisonment interfere with his governing duties, legal experts say.

"There's a sense out there that they would follow the norm of the feds and therefore delay the sentencing in the New York case until after he finished his presidency," Stanford law professor Robert Weisberg told USA Today.

"Say goodbye to all the criminal cases," Karen Friedman Agnifilo, the former chief of the Manhattan district attorney's trial division, told ABC News. "The criminal cases are over, whether it's legally or practically," she said, adding that Trump's presidential win would be a "get out of jail free card.""

The real 'threat to democracy' has now been identified by the American voter and they have rendered their verdict. And STILL the left doesn't truly understand why they got their collectives asses handed to them on a platter, they truly don't understand why, and they likely never will. As in the last scene in 'A few good men' said it, Downey says to Dawson, 'we were supposed to fight for Willy'. Instead, Democrats still persist in justifying shoving a rag down his throat. New York and California now look like the Confederate south after General Lee's surrender.

My advice? Give up your lawfare, and support the Constitution for a change!

Republicans are all proud of themselves for beating the worst president candidate ever.

Hey democrats if you want to win an election maybe like hold a primary next time you idiots.

I'll never forget 2024, insiders just appoint a presidential candidate without asking the voters and then call the other guy the threat to democracy.

    Trump escapes accountability again.

The DOJ is moving to wind down Trump criminal cases before he takes office.

DOJ moving to wind down Trump criminal cases before he takes office

    excerpt:

“The idea that you could win an election to avoid justice just cuts so deeply against my expectations for our legal system and for our politics too,” said Joyce Vance, a former U.S. attorney and NBC News contributor. “But the voters have spoken, and that’s where we are.”

She added that it has never been a foregone conclusion that Trump would be convicted — that would be up to a jury.

“What bothers me so deeply is that he’s avoided the quintessential part of American justice — letting a jury decide, based on the evidence.”
