On first day as AG, Bondi pauses federal funds to sanctuary cities.

New AG Pam Bondi bans federal funds from heading to 'Sanctuary Cities‘ on first day

    excerpt:

"Bondi also said she would be setting up a "Weaponization Working Group,” tasked with reviewing the activities of all law enforcement agencies over the past four years to identify cases of "politicized justice,” including Trump-related lawsuits, such as those led by former Special Counsel Jack Smith and Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg, Fox News Digital reported."

Trump removed Fagan from Coast Guard.

Trump administration evicts former Coast Guard leader from her house with 3 hours notice

    excerpt:

"WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump's administration evicted former Coast Guard Commandant Linda Fagan from her home with three hours of notice on Tuesday — not even enough time to gather her personal effects — according to two people familiar with the incident.

Fagan, a four-star admiral and the first woman to lead a branch of the military, was removed from her post as the Coast Guard’s top officer on Trump’s second day in office. Officials at the Homeland Security Department — which oversees the Coast Guard — cited border security issues and an “excessive focus” on diversity, equity and inclusion among the reasons for her dismissal."

Trump defends Gaza proposal, says territory would be ‘turned over’ to U.S. by Israel

    excerpt:

"In his post on Truth Social, Trump suggested that Palestinians could be "resettled in far safer and more beautiful communities, with new and modern homes, in the region," adding fresh confusion to discrepancies in his stance on the future of Palestinians in Gaza.

Trump also said that "no soldiers by the U.S. would be needed! Stability for the region would reign!!!"

It comes after Trump made contradictory comments on Tuesday on whether he foresaw Palestinians being able to live in a future Gaza that he described as the "Riviera of the Middle East." He initially suggested that Palestinians could be permanently removed, before adding they would be able to live there, alongside others, after Gaza was rebuilt."

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/world/2025/02/06/trump-gaza-palestinian-displacement-israel/

    excerpt:

"Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said Thursday he has instructed the military to draft a plan to “allow voluntary departure” of Gaza residents from the enclave — days after President Donald Trump’s controversial proposal for the United States to “take over” the Strip and remove all the people living there.

“I welcome President Trump’s bold plan, which could enable a large segment of Gaza’s population to relocate to various destinations around the world,” Katz said in a statement. The Israeli plan would allow Gaza residents to depart for “any country willing to receive them,” via land crossings or through “special arrangements for departure by sea and air,” he said."

U.S. farmers still love Trump even after he squandered the water they needed for their farms.

    https://www.politico.com/news/2025/02/06/trump-california-water-policy-farmers-00202751

    excerpt:

At least publicly, the farmers and their Republican allies are brushing off the president’s abrupt move last week to dump more than 2 billion gallons of their irrigation water from reservoirs in the name of aiding Los Angeles wildfires — even though the fires were already contained and the water couldn’t have made it to Los Angeles anyway.

Zack Stuller, a farmer with citrus and almond orchards he irrigates from the reservoirs and president of the Tulare County Farm Bureau in the state’s arid Central Valley, said the situation “definitely was a little nerve-wracking for a while.”

But, he said, “I’m a farmer. I have a conservative mindset. I encourage the trigger-pulling attitude, like, ‘Hey, let’s just get stuff done.’”

Trump is vowing to build a $100 million Mar-a-Lago style ballroom at White House

Trump Wants Ballroom to Turn White House Into Mar-a-Lago

    excerpt:

"Trump said he is good at building party rooms – the glitzy Donald J. Trump Grand Ballroom takes pride of place at his Mar-a-Lago Club in Florida.

Countering any suggestion that a ballroom would be an indulgence while Elon Musk’s DOGE team is stripping federal budgets, Trump said he would pick up the tab for the ambitious project himself."

Trump's forgotten people can be happy about it while Musk takes away their money.

Musk's access to U.S. payment system is raising alarms.

Elon Musk's access to Treasury's payment system is raising alarms. Here's what to know.

    excerpt:

"DOGE, a Trump administration task force assigned to find ways to reduce federal spending, now has access to a Treasury unit called the Bureau of the Fiscal Service, which disburses trillions in payments each year, including Social Security checks and federal salaries, according to the Associated Press."

During a press gathering this week, Trump acknowledged that Musk had someone who was age 19 helping him access such financial systems. Trump said it was great and that he thought such young, bright individuals should replace the current air traffic controllers who Trump says are incompetent due to diversity initiatives.

Dismantling the CIA and FBI isn't going to make Trump any more protected from assassination attempts as he infuriates a very large number of people around the world.

Trump's Secret Service didn't look good at Butler, PA in July 2024.

Remark by Christy Setzer this week:

“Democratic leadership acts like it’s permanently 2006, a year when, yes, we took back the Senate, but also before the Republican Party found a cult leader and lost its collective minds.

We don’t live in that world anymore; we have a lifelong conman and convicted felon in the Oval Office who tries every day to turn this country into a dictatorship. Let’s start acting like it."

Resistance to Musk's government team likely broke the law, US prosecutor says

    excerpt:

"Our initial review of the evidence presented to us indicates that certain individuals and/or groups have committed acts that appear to violate the law in targeting DOGE employees," Martin said in a statement.

Martin said the FBI and other law enforcement agencies were preparing to "proceed rapidly."

The statement came after Martin publicly shared a letter he wrote to Musk on Monday seeking information on anyone who sought to threaten or impede people working with Musk.

Trump's trade war with neighbours is delayed - what did they all get out of it?

    excerpt:

"The border security measures announced on Monday aren't all new.

In December, Canada announced C$1.3bn ($900m; £700m) in measures that included efforts to disrupt the fentanyl trade, new tools for law enforcement and enhanced co-ordination with US law enforcement.

Canadian surveillance drones and two Black Hawk helicopters recently began patrolling the boundary between the two countries.

Officials have cited those efforts for weeks to show they are taking Trump's border concerns seriously.

A new element appears to be the appointment of a "fentanyl tsar" and a C$200m intelligence directive to fight organised crime and fentanyl.

One question that remains is what this means for the future of the Canada-US relationship. The partnership between the allies has been deeply shaken by Trump's economic threats."

    excerpt:

"What role does Canada play in the U.S. fentanyl supply?

Almost none. In its fact sheet, the Trump administration says Canada has a "growing footprint" in narcotics distribution with Mexican cartels active in the country. But law enforcement and drug policy experts agree that Canada plays a minimal role in fentanyl smuggling into the U.S."

A million Americans per year were dying of Covid when including excess deaths due in part to Trump's dimwitted mishandling of it. Trump dismissed the deaths.

Yet he supposedly cares about fentanyl deaths and uses it to bolster his tariff wars.

    https://www.npr.org/2025/02/02/nx-s1-5283957/fentanyl-trump-tariffs-china-canada-mexico

    excerpt:

"On Inauguration Day, Trump said foreign drug cartels are "killing 250,000 [or] 300,000 American people per year." On Friday, White House spokesperson Karoline Leavitt said tariffs are warranted because fentanyl has "killed tens of millions of Americans."

    These claims are false.

While the overdose epidemic is a serious crisis, experts in law enforcement, drug policy research and public health agree street drugs have killed vastly fewer people."

Trump said he's cutting off funding to South Africa.

    https://www.reuters.com/world/africa/trump-cut-off-all-future-funding-south-africa-2025-02-02/

    excerpt:

"During his first administration, Trump said the U.S. would investigate unproven large-scale killings of white farmers in South Africa and violent takeovers of land. Pretoria at the time said Trump was misinformed. It is unclear whether the Trump administration carried out an investigation.

Trump's close ally Elon Musk was born in South Africa. In 2023, Musk replied on X to a video of a far-left South African political party singing an old anti-apartheid song, "Kill the Boer", by stating: "They are openly pushing for genocide of white people in South Africa.""
