'We're not stopping': Trump officials raise the stakes in showdowns with judges

    excerpt:

"The Department of Homeland Security has cited Secretary of State Marco Rubio’s power to revoke green cards and visas of those it believes “would have serious adverse foreign policy consequences for the United States,” and it is using that argument to take away the green card of Mahmoud Khalil, a pro-Palestinian activist who finished his graduate studies at Columbia University in December.

The administration has said it has evidence of Khalil’s connections to Hamas but has not shared it publicly. He has not been charged with committing any crimes."

Trump's latest deportations test the strength of US courts

    excerpt:

But the court order was never heeded, and the planes stayed the course.

"Oopsie…too late," El Salvador's president, Nayib Bukele, posted on X after the deportees landed in his country. He included an emoji crying with laughter. The post was reshared by the White House's director of communications, Steven Cheung.

Chinese government hails Trump's cut of VOA funding.

Chinese state media hails Trump cuts to Voice of America

    excerpt:

Critics have called the move a setback for democracy but Beijing's state newspaper Global Times denounced VOA for its "appalling track record" in reporting on China and said it has "now been discarded by its own government like a dirty rag".

The White House defended the move, saying it will "ensure that taxpayers are no longer on the hook for radical propaganda".

    They voted for Trump.

Whatever they didn't like about Biden, they received the same from Trump plus Trump deporting people and groups from the U.S. he doesn't like without due process, wanting to deport all Palestianians out of Gaza, and plans to turn Gaza into a Trump tourist resort with a giant golden statue of Trump erected in the former Gaza (as shown in a AI-assisted promo video released by Trump).

    https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/mar/18/trump-administration-reinstating-fired-workers#img-1

    excerpt:

    "Donald Trump
’s presidential administration in court filings has for the first time acknowledged that it fired nearly 25,000 recently hired workers – and said agencies were working to bring all of them back after a judge ruled that their terminations were likely illegal.

The filings made in Baltimore’s federal courthouse late Monday include statements from officials at 18 agencies, all of whom said the reinstated probationary workers were being placed on administrative leave at least temporarily."

Donald Trump shuts down NBC News reporter

    excerpt:

"Elon Musk, the billionaire behind the White House’s cost-cutting task force, has also threatened to “defund” the public station, arguing “It should survive on its own.”

NPR has reported that it receives about 1% of its funding from federal sources annually, and that PBS receives 16% of its funds from the government.

Faced with the threats, public broadcaster PBS last month shuttered its diversity office and fired two staffers, citing a need to comply with Trump’s order since the network relies on federal funding. "

Why Non-white Voters and Young Men Drifted to Trump

    excerpt:

    (1) Trump made significant gains as compared to his 2020 performance among Black, Latino, Asian American, immigrant and under-30 voters;

    (2) Trump did better among marginally engaged voters than did Kamala Harris, reversing an ancient assumption that Democrats would benefit from relatively high turnout; and

    (3) inflation was the overriding issue among persuadable voters, even as Democrats overemphasized the threat to democracy posed by Trump’s return to power.

    excerpt:

In another case, a kidney transplant specialist and professor at Brown University’s medical school, Rasha Alawieh, was deported from the United States late last week. She had a valid visa and a court order temporarily blocking her removal, but the Trump administration deported her anyway, claiming officials hadn’t received formal notification of the order before she was put on an Air France flight bound for Paris Friday night. Federal authorities said Monday that they deported the Lebanese doctor after finding “sympathetic photos and videos of prominent Hezbollah figures” in her phone.

Trump says he was being sarcastic about ending Putin's war on Ukraine in one day.

Trump says he was being a 'bit sarcastic' when he promised to end Russia-Ukraine war in 24 hours

    excerpt:

"WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — President Donald Trump said Friday that he was “being a little bit sarcastic” when he repeatedly claimed as a candidate that he would have the Russia-Ukraine war solved within 24 hours — and even before he even took office.

Trump was asked about the vow he repeatedly made on the campaign trail during an interview for the “Full Measure” television program as his administration is still trying to broker a solution 54 days into his second term.

“Well, I was being a little bit sarcastic when I said that,” Trump said in a clip released ahead of the episode airing Sunday. “What I really mean is I’d like to get it settled and, I’ll, I think, I think I’ll be successful.”

It was a rare admission from Trump, who has a long record of making exaggerated claims."

Trump pulls U.S. out of international body investigating Putin's invasion of Ukraine.

Trump administration pulls US out of body investigating Ukraine invasion

    excerpt:

"The Department of Justice said it was pulling out of the International Centre for the Prosecution of the Crime of Aggression against Ukraine (ICPA) two years after the Biden administration joined it with a commitment to hold Putin, Russia’s president, to account for the 2022 invasion and subsequent crimes committed by Russian forces."

Trump receiving blowback in red districts.

Rachel Maddow: As GOP lawmakers face angry voters, Trump doubles down on another unpopular policy

    excerpt:

Some Republican lawmakers supporting President Donald Trump and Elon Musk’s slash-and-burn rampage against the federal government are facing incredible blowback in their home districts.

In deep-red Idaho on Monday, Republican Sen. Mike Crapo gave a speech at a paid ticketed event in Boise. He was met with hundreds of people, including many military veterans, who stood outside protesting the senator, demanding that he try to stop Trump.

In deep-red West Virginia, large crowds were asked to move their demonstration outside of the Morgantown offices of Republican Rep. Riley Moore.

It's becoming difficult for Trump's associates.

They fear he will rub them out if they don't support his policies, yet they are in jeopardy of being rubbed out by their voters at the state and local level because of Trump's policies.
