'Nazis got better treatment,' judge says of Trump administration's Alien Enemies Act deportations

    excerpt:

"The problem here is that they are challenging implementation of a proclamation in a way that never gave anyone a chance to say, 'I'm not covered,'" the judge said.

"And if your argument is we didn't have to do that, it's an intrusion on the president's war powers, the courts are paralyzed to do anything ... that's a misreading of precedent, misreading of the text of the Alien Enemies Act," she said.

Judge Millett and Ensign appeared to agree on one thing: The president's actions have brought the court into "unprecedented territory."

"I think the intrusion upon the War Powers and foreign policy powers of the president is utterly unprecedented," Ensign argued.

"Well, this is an unprecedented action as well," Millet responded. "So of course, there's no precedent for it, because no president has ever used this statute this way, which isn't to say one way or the other if it can be done, but simply to say we are in unprecedented territory."

Trump invokes state secrets privilege to thwart a federal judge from trying to determine if Trump violated the order of the judge when Trump deported Venezuelans to El Salvador when he invoked the Alien Enemies Act of 1798.

Trump has called for impeaching and disbarring Judge Boasberg.

Trump administration invokes state secrets privilege in deportation case

    excerpt:

Gelernt accused the administration of trying to use the law to "short circuit" immigration proceedings. Plaintiffs' attorneys had no way to individually challenge all the deportations before planeloads of Venezuelans took off on March 15, he added.

"This has all been done in secret," Gelernt said.

    https://www.npr.org/sections/shots-...ans-mental-health-trump-telehealth-privacy-va

    excerpt:

"As the Department of Veterans Affairs calls staff working in telehealth into offices across the country, a widespread concern about lack of space has emerged. The change will compromise medical ethics and patients' privacy, clinicians and advocates at multiple VA locations told NPR.

Telehealth has become common in recent years among medical professionals — especially for mental health therapists — and the VA hired many clinicians on a remote basis. The practice allowed the VA to expand its reach of mental health services into rural areas."

As expected, Trump is defending Waltz.

Trump says Waltz has learned a lesson.

Not much intelligence can be expected from Hegseth.

He did a dumb stunt on Fox where he threw an axe at a bullseye target, missed, and hit a military drummer in the arm who was part of a drum group to add effect to the stunt. The drummer was injured significantly.

Now Hegseth is in charge of the entire military.

The U.S. Senate gave Trump just about everything he wanted. The only major position Trump didn't receive was his nomination of Matt Gaetz for Attorney General. Gaetz dropped out before the confirmation vote.

Hegseth is unqualified to be running the entire Pentagon.

Trump noticed him as a host on Fox and liked his anti-DEI stance. That's why he nominated him to run the Pentagon. Congress confirmed him, as it did RFK Jr. to run the Health Departmentm and a big-time wrestling magnate to head the Education Department that she is now dismantling..

The voting public and Congress willingly brought this mess upon themselves.

'Nazis got better treatment,' judge says of Trump administration's Alien Enemies Act deportations

    excerpt:

"There were plane loads of people. There were no procedures in place to notify people," Judge Patricia Millett said. "Nazis got better treatment under the Alien Enemies Act."
MORE: 'Incredibly troublesome': Judge grills DOJ over alleged gang member deportations

Judge Millett noted that alleged Nazis were given hearing boards and were subject to established regulations, while the alleged members of Tren De Aragua were given no such rights.

"There's no regulations, and nothing was adopted by the agency officials that were administering this. They people weren't given notice. They weren't told where they were going. They were given those people on those planes on that Saturday and had no opportunity to file habeas or any type of action to challenge the removal under the AEA," Judge Millet said. "What's factually wrong about what I said?"

‘The Democratic party has no grassroots’: Bernie Sanders on how to fight the Trump blitzkrieg

    excerpt:

"Bernie Sanders said Donald Trump has “absolutely” created a constitutional crisis in the United States and is pushing the country “very rapidly toward an authoritarian form of society”.

The independent senator from Vermont has been rallying the anti-Trump resistance on a cross-country “Fight Oligarchy” tour, drawing some of the largest crowds of his decades-long political career as he taps into rising anger over the president’s stunning power grabs.

In an interview after an event in Tempe, Arizona, on Thursday night, Sanders accused Trump of “illegally” attempting to dissolve government agencies, including via an executive order, signed hours before the senator took the stage, to dismantle the US Department of Education, which cannot be done without the approval of Congress. He also pointed to the Trump administration’s defiance of a federal judge’s order not to deport a group of Venezuelan immigrants.

“So yes, I think we are in the midst of the constitutional crisis,” Sanders said."

Trump is positing that he can do whatever he wants and that the justice system can't question him about it.

And if judges do try to question him about it, he will call for their impeachment and disbarment.

Don't vote for someone who thinks and talks like this about a fictional serial killer who would eat people.

Trump's remarks at a rally in May 2024:

“Has anyone ever seen ‘The Silence of the Lambs’? The late, great Hannibal Lecter. He’s a wonderful man. He oftentimes would have a friend for dinner. Remember the last scene? ‘Excuse me, I’m about to have a friend for dinner,’ as this poor doctor walked by. ‘I’m about to have a friend for dinner.’ But Hannibal Lecter. Congratulations. The late, great Hannibal Lecter.”

Top Trump officials accidentally included reporter in Yemen strike chat on commercial app

    excerpt:

"I was invited a couple of weeks ago to connect with Michael Waltz, the national security adviser. That didn't strike me as particularly strange, given my job and his job.

A little while later, I'm added to a group chat with the people you just named. That seemed strange. But I kind of just ignored it a little bit. And then it really became a very bizarre situation on Saturday the 15th of March, when I was shared on a text in this group from somebody purporting to be Pete Hegseth, the secretary of defense.

And this text contained operational military information, including the time that bombs were supposed to start dropping on Yemen. And this was two hours before that time. So I simply waited and stared at my phone.

And, sure enough, the attack, the American attack on Yemen began to be felt at about 1:30 Eastern or so, 1:50 Eastern. And that's when I realized that the chain was real. Until that point, I really had a deep suspicion that I was being spoofed or hoaxed or being led astray on a disinformation campaign, the rationale for which I can't figure out."

Republican Speaker of the House Mike Johnson wants to eliminate Federal Judges.
He and other Republicans such as Jim Jordon want to eliminate funding for any judge who disagrees with Trump.

    Hello dictatorship.

Habba has accused veterans, and federal workers in general, of not showing up for work.

    https://www.nytimes.com/2025/03/04/us/politics/veteran-firings-trump-musk-democrats.html

    excerpt:

"Alina Habba, a counselor to the president, told reporters inquiring about the status of fired veterans that the Trump administration would “care for them in the right way.”

But, she said, “we have a fiscal responsibility to use taxpayer dollars to pay people that actually work.” She suggested that “perhaps they’re not fit to have a job at this moment or not willing to come to work.”

Neither the White House nor the Department of Veterans Affairs responded to questions about whether officials had found examples of veterans who were not fit to work or did not show up to their jobs."

    That was September 2022

In spite of all that, they went back to Trump in 2024.

Now some are having voter remorse.

Trump says tariffs coming in April will 'probably be more lenient than reciprocal'

    excerpt:

"The comments come as investors worry that a more severe approach signaled by the Trump administration would dampen consumer and corporate sentiment enough to slow down the U.S. economy. On Tuesday, the Conference Board said its measure for consumer expectations on business, income and labor dropped to a 12-year low.

Stocks have struggled recently, with the S&P 500 dropping 3% in the past month. The benchmark also dipped into correction territory amid the tariff pressures, briefly trading more than 10% below a record set in February."
