https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2016/06/the-mind-of-donald-trump/480771/ excerpt: "When individuals with authoritarian proclivities fear that their way of life is being threatened, they may turn to strong leaders who promise to keep them safe—leaders like Donald Trump. In a national poll conducted recently by the political scientist Matthew MacWilliams, high levels of authoritarianism emerged as the single strongest predictor of expressing political support for Donald Trump. Trump’s promise to build a wall on the Mexican border to keep illegal immigrants out and his railing against Muslims and other outsiders have presumably fed that dynamic."
That was Trump in 2016. During his second term, his fear of perceived invading entities and his approach for repelling them has become extreme compared to his first term.
Where Are the Detainees? Hundreds of “Alligator Alcatraz” Prisoners Disappear from ICE Database | Democracy Now! excerpt: "People are hospitalized often. This guy, Michael Borrego, you know, we connected with his mother, Yaneisy, both of Cuban descent. He actually had to endure a hemorrhoid-related surgery while detained at Alligator Alcatraz and was transferred over to Kendall Hospital, where most of the hospitalizations that take place in that facility end up. And he was there for three days after his surgery and was immediately transferred over to Alligator Alcatraz again, where he did not receive adequate medical care for his recovery and was denied even the most basic medicine to alleviate pain, for example. And these hospitalizations, which, you know, also have included cardiac incidents, you know, follow-up — there was a guy that we met whose fiancée told us that he had exploratory heart surgery just a week before being detained and was suffering from a ruptured kidney while in this facility. These hospitalizations are not recorded nor acknowledged by the state of Florida, the Florida Department of Emergency Management, which administers the facility, nor by the hospital itself, even though we saw and we recorded and documented ambulances going in and out of the facility constantly, upwards of a dozen sometimes a day, because of the terrible conditions that have been outlined in this program and many others, right? So, again, it creates an environment where due process is denied, legal recourse is denied, accountability is denied, transparency is denied. Medical incidents are not recorded, which puts the detainees under further medical exposure and threat. And right now things are so bad. I mean, the Miami Herald did a great job obtaining this list of people detained there — right? — and cross-referencing people to the ICE locator to show up — to show what we advocates have been arguing for weeks — right? — that this is a systemic issue and that people actually do not show up in these databases, which creates all of these problems, right?"
Where Are the Detainees? Hundreds of “Alligator Alcatraz” Prisoners Disappear from ICE Database Democracy Now! September 25, 2025 Where Are the Detainees? Hundreds of “Alligator Alcatraz” Prisoners Disappear from ICE Database | Democracy Now! “What we’re seeing at Alligator Alcatraz is basically a new model of immigration detention, where a state-run facility is operating as an extrajudicial black site, completely outside of the previous models of immigration detention in this country. And it’s making what was already a terrible system somehow even worse,” says Thomas Kennedy, policy analyst at the Florida Immigrant Coalition.
Judges who ruled against Trump say harassment and threats have changed their lives excerpt: “The things they say and descriptions they use — I blame them for stirring this stuff up,” Coughenour said. White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson defended the administration’s criticisms of judges, pointing out in a statement last week that the Supreme Court has regularly blocked the same rulings the White House has taken issue with. “Any implication, by NBC, that sharing the truth is akin to making threats is deeply unserious and should be dismissed by anyone with half a brain,” she added. “The Trump Administration cares deeply for the safety of all members of the Judicial Branch and will continue enacting the agenda President Trump was elected to fulfill.”
Trump warns against infiltration by a 'bad Santa,' defends coal in jovial Christmas calls with kids excerpt: “Coal is clean and beautiful. Please remember that, at all costs,” Trump said. “But you don’t want clean, beautiful coal, right?” “No,” the caller responded, saying she’d prefer a Barbie doll, clothes and candy.
Trump approval rating is 36% near the end of his first term. He's tied with himself for the worst approval rating during the past 50 years for a president. Only one recent president has scored an approval rating as bad as Trump’s – himself excerpt; President Donald Trump’s job approval rating stands at just 36 percent in the latest Gallup poll, the joint-worst rating of any U.S. president at the end of their first year in power of the last 50 years. The other man? Himself – at the end of the first year of his first term in December 2017 – when he picked up precisely the same score.

Trump makes everything about himself, even when trying to talk with innocent little children on Christmas. The children are from Oklahoma. Trump praises Oklahoma for voting for him. They don't want a lump of coal for Christmas. Trump goes on a tangent about fossil fuel coal that he thinks is clean and beautiful. Santa. The fear of contagion. https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2016/06/the-mind-of-donald-trump/480771/ excerpt: "As the social psychologist Jesse Graham has noted, Trump appeals to an ancient fear of contagion, which analogizes out-groups to parasites, poisons, and other impurities. In this regard, it is perhaps no psychological accident that Trump displays a phobia of germs, and seems repulsed by bodily fluids, especially women’s. He famously remarked that Megyn Kelly of Fox News had “blood coming out of her wherever,” and he repeatedly characterized Hillary Clinton’s bathroom break during a Democratic debate as “disgusting.” Disgust is a primal response to impurity. On a daily basis, Trump seems to experience more disgust, or at least to say he does, than most people do."
https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2016/06/the-mind-of-donald-trump/480771/ excerpt: "Across his lifetime, Donald Trump has exhibited a trait profile that you would not expect of a U.S. president: sky-high extroversion combined with off-the-chart low agreeableness. This is my own judgment, of course, but I believe that a great majority of people who observe Trump would agree. There is nothing especially subtle about trait attributions. We are not talking here about deep, unconscious processes or clinical diagnoses. As social actors, our performances are out there for everyone to see."
Time for border patrol to sieze Santa and search his sleigh, gang tackle and cuff him; demand his birth certificate, permanent residency, or visa documents; keep him in detention for months without a hearing and deport him to a terrorist prison in El Salvador.

That will keep Trump busy trying to deflect for the rest of his second term. As good as Trump has been at keeping the news cycle away from undesirable topics and on himself, he's been unable to shake the Epstein cycle. He set everyone up for the release of the Epstein files during the 2024 campaign. In September 2024 he said he would have no problem releasing the Epstein files if reelected. Trump cultivated and has been using the double-edge truther narrative approach since 2015 to make his followers believe what he wants. Some are now using it against him. Greene is a truther enthusiast herself and is a major MAGA GOP member who has turned on Trump.
