Trump’s snatching of Maduro shows a new level of unrestrained global power
    Analysis by Nick Paton Walsh
    January 5, 2026

    excerpt:

"Expressions of unbridled power don’t come blunter than abducting a sitting president from his capital in the dead of night.

President Donald Trump has shown in a 74-word social media post that he can act decisively, suddenly and perhaps recklessly, in pursuit of his varied and varying foreign policy goals, with little regard for precedent, consequence or it seems, international law."

Trump threatens the VP of Venezuela who is assuming the presidency.

Trump issues direct warning to Venezuela's new leader Delcy Rodríguez following Maduro capture
    By Amanda Macias. Fox News
    Published January 4, 2026 3:17pm EST

    excerpts:

In an interview with The Atlantic, Trump said Delcy Rodríguez would "pay a very big price, probably bigger than Maduro" if she fails to "do what’s right," adding that his administration would not tolerate what he described as her defiant rejection of the U.S. intervention.

Trump referred to his approach as the "Donroe Doctrine."

Trump Raises the Price of Filing a Tax Return
    Joe Hughes
    November 5, 2025

    excerpt:

"The program was initially only available in 12 states, but after the success of the first year, more states hopped on. Research found that the program would save Americans billions of dollars annually in time and tax prep fees, and would also provide billions more in tax credits to families who either did not know they were eligible or simply did not file through other methods.

Despite the program being a hallmark of governmental simplicity and efficiency, it became an early target for DOGE cuts. The program was put on hold almost immediately after the Trump administration was sworn in."

Trump talks like taking over Venezuela oil is going to be relatively easy and that all of it will be paid by U.S. oil companies.

Trump's plan to seize and revitalize Venezuela's oil industry faces major hurdles
President Donald Trump's plan to take control of Venezuela's oil industry and ask American companies to revitalize it after capturing that country's president in a military raid isn't likely to have a significant immediate impact on oil prices
By JOSH FUNK AP business writer
    January 4, 2026, 6:08 AM

    excerpt:

“The estimate is that in order for Venezuela to increase from one million barrels per day — that is what it produces today — to four million barrels, it will take about a decade and about a hundred billion dollars of investment,” Monaldi said.

Venezuela produces the kind of heavy crude oil that's needed for diesel fuel, asphalt and other fuels for heavy equipment. Diesel is in short supply around the world because of the sanctions on oil from Venezuela and Russia and because America's lighter crude oil can't easily replace it.

Trump was supposed to dispose of the swamp and Deep State.

He's both and worse. He's a personal, concentrated version of both, grifting for himself.

Greene managed to dump Trump before his commandeering of Venezuela.

She's in her 50's and should have been more perceptive in years past at recognizing that Trump is not what he claims to be.

She spends too much time on truther narratives, such as Jewish space lasers starting forest fires in the U.S. to help Democrats. Spending time like that distracts from what's happening in front of her face.

Trump thinks U.S. oil companies are going to make a $100 billion ten-year commitment when the Venezuelan government is in disarray and with no plans for how it will be run.

At his Saturday press gathering about the abduction of Maduro, Trump said he's going to have Rubio and Hegseth run Venezuela.

Trump says he wants to lend a helping hand to his neighbors.

Then he helps himself to his neighbors.

Trump says U.S. is "in charge" of Venezuela, Maduro expected in court Monday
By Jennifer Jacobs, Joe Walsh, James LaPorta, Tucker Reals
    Updated on: January 5, 2026 / 4:37 AM EST / CBS News

    excerpt:

Mr. Trump, asked how the operation represents his "America First" platform, said, "I think it is because we want to surround ourself with good neighbors."

"We want to surround ourself with energy, we have tremendous energy in that country," he added. "It's very important that we protect it. We need that for ourselves. We need that for the world, and we want to make sure we can protect it."

In the months leading up to Trump's invasion of Venezuela, he was talking about wanting to go to Venezuela and bring back the oil that he said Venezuela stole from the U.S.

He had also stated that he would start land operations with the military soon.

It isn't too surprising that he invaded the country.

After Trump announced the capture of Maduro, Katie Miller, the wife of Stephen Miller, posted an image of Greenland with a superimposed U.S. flag with the title "Soon".

When Bush Jr. ran for president in 2000, he said he wasn't going to be involved in nation-building. He did the opposite after he was elected with his bombings of Iraq and Afghanistan and spending staggering amounts of taypayer money trying to rebuild them.

Trump made similar statements. He's going down the same path as Bush.

"Previous presidents told us to go to war over WMDs — weapons of mass destruction — that did not exist," Republican Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky said on the House floor on Dec. 17. "Now it's the same playbook, except we're told that drugs were the WMDs. If it were about drugs, we'd bomb Mexico, or China, or Colombia, and the president would not have pardoned Juan Orlando Hernandez. This is about oil and regime change."

Slain Minnesota lawmaker's children call on Trump to remove social media video amplifying false claims about her death
    By Raquel Coronell Uribe
    January 5, 2026

    excerpt:

"The children of slain Minnesota state lawmaker Melissa Hortman are urging President Donald Trump to remove a post on Truth Social that promotes a conspiracy theory alleging the state's governor, Tim Walz, was involved in Hortman’s death.

Hortman — a Democrat — and her husband, Mark, were killed in June at their home in what authorities described at the time as "politically motivated" shootings. State Sen. John Hoffman, a Democrat, and his wife, Yvette, were also shot and wounded in their home the same day."

Why Trump’s regime-change playbook won’t work in Iran
    By Jasim Al-Azzawi
    Published On 5 Jan 2026

    excerpt:

Iran has the largest military in the region with one million active and reserve soldiers. The IRGC alone commands at least 150,000 soldiers, many of whom have been battle-hardened in the Middle East already. Then there is the Basij militia, which itself has hundreds of thousands of regular and reserve members.

An invasion of Iran would not be as easy as Venezuela; it would not even be comparable to Iraq, given the mountainous Iranian landscape and vast urban areas.

Furthermore, the Chinese and Russians are unlikely to abandon Iran, a much more important partner than Venezuela. They are likely to provide it with highly advanced intelligence and weaponry as well as political support and cover.

    excerpt:

Denmark is in "full crisis mode" after U.S. President Donald Trump once again set his sights on Greenland, following the strike on Venezuela.

"We need Greenland from the standpoint of national security and Denmark is not going to be able to do it, I can tell you," Trump said Sunday on Air Force One, echoing similar remarks made separately to The Atlantic magazine.

I'm trying to work out how ordinary people can support the worst American ever
    Ray Richmond
    January 4, 2026.

    excerpt:

"It appears to have little to do with his policy or ideology, both of which are nonexistent. No, this is about the man, a person who utterly lacks sensitivity, compassion, empathy, ethics, integrity, decency, and depth.

He looks to have been biologically denied the gene that produces genuine humanity. When he reacts to his environment with as much cruelty and malice as possible, it’s less an active choice than an impulse.

At the risk of sounding hyperbolic, Trump is the worst human being this country has yet produced, a collection of all the worst traits a person can conceivably possess."

Trump is putting numerous countries on notice.

He made a public remark that he will deal with Greenland in about 20 days and that right now he wants to talk about Venezuela and Ukraine.

Trump on return trip to Washington predicts demise of Cuba, warns Colombia, threatens Greenland
The comments came less than 48 hours after the American military conducted a brazen raid inside Caracas to arrest Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro.
