I couldn't read that as I have reached my monthly allotment of views for the New York Times.

    But I found other sources:
Lawyers in NY have already sued to stop the order.

Now, that's really scary..."He's just getting started."

    310. Trump bans all refugees from Iraq, Syria, Iran, Sudan, Libya, Somalia and Yemen. Trump has no business dealings with those countries. Refugees from other Arab nations that Trump does have business dealings with are exempted. See posts above.

The order prioritizes entrance for Christians but not other religions......a move that is clearly unconstitutional.

Yeah, Pence looks like the snake he is, too.

Someone told me a Senator had dinner over at pence's house once...and everything Pence said to his wife..."Mother., what dishes are we using tonight?...Mother this and mother that to his wife...."

My first thought was Psycho...Norman Bates here we come....

I may hate him worse than Trump....if that is possible.

So American voters who voted for trump...shot themselves in the foot in this election.

Just FYI to anyone who hasnt followed this closely, this doesnt just apply to refugees. If anyone from these countries has residency in the US but is traveling outside of the US currently they will not be allowed back in the US.

just finished reading a facebook post written by an Iranian woman who lives in Clemson, SC, a town about 40 minutes from me. She attended Clemson University, she works in Clemson. She has been visiting family in Iran, left to come back early once she received word the ban was going into effect, but didnt make it in time - she was detained in Dubai and told she couldnt board her plane to the US because she is no longer allowed in the US. She has an apartment in Clemson, a job, a dog. She said she doesnt know what will happen to her dog.

    This is bad.

    It is unreal and horrible

I read on fb of more than one student that was scheduled, with proper clearances, papers, etc to enter universities. These are bilingual students and considered prodigies in their fields. Then there is one student intern that was to enter into an internship in a hospital (I forget which one)...the internship person being considered "quite a find" by the hospital...but no...they are coming from the wrong place.

I know there are numbers of others that I haven't read about...

Is this called cutting off your nose to spite your face?

The way I see it, dt's "orders" are going to benefit about 8 people during his reign of Terror, and they are all related to him.

    smh

With what little bit of news i was able to see tonight....the people that flew in over the last 24 hours.....have been issued a stay for now by the courts. they are all being detained.....and people with paperwork can come in...green cards...permission, ect......but not the ones with no paper work. i have no idea if i understood all of that correctly. Are they being detained at the airports still across the USA?
I cannot understand what is going on at the moment with all of this.
I just searched all of the channels for more news and a better understanding but cannot find anything clarifying anything.

Moonie, what I read was what this Iranian woman had posted about her home, life, job, and dog in Clemson - which is maybe 30 to 40 minutes from me...and she cannot come back into the country. She is being detained in Dubai because she is not being allowed back into the country since she was in Iran. Her home, job etc don't count here, it most certainly seems. What counts is where she was and where she is originally from. She is totally "legal" for here, and has all the required paperwork - but that doesn't matter...dt's "executive order" is what counts.

I've read about the students literally on their way here, and being stopped at different airports all over the world - stopped as in detained and not allowed to come into the USofA because "orders" ... not being allowed to enter planes that will come here to the states that they have tickets for, because they are coming from the wrong place.

    Its just an awful mess.

There is way too much of the same exact thing being said all over for it not to be true.

edit: I went and looked up the story Mel related and found it for myself. This woman has a Ph.D. in industrial engineering and works at Clemson. She is at a loss as to what to do with her home, her LIFE here, her dog... It made me cry.

    http://wgntv.com/2017/01/28/president-trump-travel-ban-is-working-out-very-nicely/

    Trump's response:

“It’s not a Muslim ban. We were totally prepared. It’s working out very nicely. You see it at the airports. You see it all over. It’s working out very nicely and we’re going to have a very, very strict ban, and we’re going to have extreme vetting, which we should have had in this country for many years.”

This was done in a crass manner that confused other departments in the government as well as the commercial sector. Members of Trump's inner circle were the few who knew about it in advance and even they are confused about it.

Green card holders, that is those with legal residence in the U.S., are only allowed reentry on a case by case basis.

Trump issued this executive order (remember Obama's executive orders were "illegal") to stop the terrorist attacks on the U.S. homeland from these 7 countries, Iraq, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen. .
But there has never been a terrorist attack on U.S. soil from anyone entering the U.S. from any one of these countries, ever, between 1975 and now.

We have had attacks on U.S. soil from individuals coming from Saudi Arabia, Lebanon, UAE, and Egypt..none of those countries are on the list.

There have been 20 terrorist attempts on U.S. soil by individuals during the period from 1975 to 2015. Only 3 Americans were killed by this group and that was in the 70's. The other 17 were convicted of trying to join foreign terrorist groups.

To put this in perspective the U.S has admitted over 832,000 individuals from Muslim countries since the 911 attack in 2001.

The chance of an American being killed by any refugee is 1 in 3.6 billion per year, risk of drowning in your own bath tube, 1 in 818,015.

Trump would make us all safer if he would just ban bath tubs.

    312. Oleg Erovinkin, the ex KGB man who leaked the Trump dossier to Christopher Steele has been found dead in the back seat of a black Lexus in Moscow. The Russian free press is claiming foul play but the official word is a heart attack.

Christopher Steele is still in hiding.

The most terrorist activity in America was in the late 60's-mid '70's with on average a hijacking weekly.
The large majority of those hijackings and other terrorist acts were committed by American terrorist groups.
The most terrorist activity on US soil has been committed by American citizens, so another reason these bans are asinine.

Regarding the 7 country ban, I'll just leave this right here:

The 7 country ban was Obama's idea https://mic.com/articles/166845/the-list-of-muslim-countries-trump-wants-to-ban-was-compiled-by-the-obama-administration#.Ievg3bJh0

for having six eyes, you don't seem to see things very clearly.
What Trump is doing isn't the same thing, you know it.
restricting travel and immigration is one thing, banning people from re-entering the country when they have legally been already living and working here contributing to the US economy, is asinine

no good will come of this and anyone who believes otherwise is a compete fool and moron.

I'll agree that part about not re-entering the country despite being a legal citizen, or having a working visa before the system was put in place, is asinine and not well thought through.

I'm curious, wonder if part of his ploy is to piss off a bunch of Arab nations so they fuck with our oil supply and force the U.S. to buy more from his pal Putin?.....hmmm not actually an insane idea

Oh, really? I don't recall Obama banning travel to the United States by people from those countries. What he did was restrict visa waivers so that their entry wouldn't be waived through without scrutiny. That was a sensible thing. Comparing it to an outright ban on immigration and applying it to visa and green card holders who have been residents of the U.S. for years is another effort by the Alt Right to bend reality. Steve Bannon, Mr. Alt Right himself, was just added to our National Security Council and seems to be the driving force behind this disaster. Was it just clumsily done, or were the outrages and hardships part of the plan to appeal to the sickos who are the part of the Trump-Bannon fan club? http://bipartisanreport.com/2017/01/29/cnn-uncovers-true-author-of-trump-muslim-ban-prepare-to-be-outraged-details/
