Trump’s Push to Bring Back Jobs to U.S. Shows Limited Results By Jim Tankersley Aug. 13, 2019 Trump’s Push to Bring Back Jobs to U.S. Shows Limited Results excerpts: "Moreover, the Reshoring Initiative data show fewer than 30,000 jobs that companies say they will relocate to the United States because of Mr. Trump’s tariffs on imported steel, aluminum, solar panels, washing machines and a variety of Chinese goods. Researchers at A. T. Kearney said last month that Mr. Trump’s trade policies, including tariffs, had pushed factory activity not to the United States but to low-cost Asian countries other than China, like Vietnam. On Tuesday in Pennsylvania, Mr. Trump declared that his tariffs had turned things around for the domestic steel industry and that “now your business is thriving.” But manufacturers of primary metals, which include steel and aluminum, have added fewer than 15,000 jobs since Mr. Trump took office, with more than half of those gains coming before he imposed tariffs on foreign-made metals last year. Now manufacturing is struggling amid a global slowdown and fallout from the trade war, which Mr. Trump has escalated by imposing additional tariffs on Chinese goods and by labeling China a “currency manipulator.” "Mr. Trump often cites repatriation figures as if they reflected direct investment in the United States. That’s wrong, Mr. Setser said. Commerce Department statistics show that the repatriated funds came mainly from low-tax countries like Ireland and Bermuda, where companies had booked profits to minimize tax liability, and not from China or other economic competitors like Japan. That flow of money “doesn’t mean all that much,” Mr. Setser said. “You’re not in any way seeing a shift in real activity back to the United States.”"
Trump extends wrath to India and Vietnam ahead of G-20 US leader widens net in trade offensive ALEX FANG, Nikkei staff writer June 28, 2019 05:15 JST Trump extends wrath to India and Vietnam ahead of G-20 excerpt: "Trump called Vietnam "almost the single worst abuser of everybody" in a Fox Business Network interview Wednesday. "A lot of companies are moving to Vietnam, but Vietnam takes advantage of us even worse than China," he said. Asked whether he wanted to impose tariffs on Vietnam, Trump said that "we're in discussions with Vietnam." Trump's remarks suggest that he sees America's trading partners in Asia -- allies or otherwise -- as potential targets of trade actions even as Washington remains locked in a tit-for-tat tariff war with Beijing that has sent shock waves through global supply chains."
I’m more inclined to believe the Doctor who wrote the book (The Dangerous Case of Donald Trump: 27 Psychiatrists and Mental Health Experts Assess a President) on why they voted for Trump. He’s replacing himself with the country (like wrapping himself up in the American flag) and the people who support him can identify with that. So as long as they have the idea that he’s America, then it doesn’t matter to them that he’s a sociopath, he has no conscience, he suffers from Narcissistic personality disorder, it doesn’t even matter if he commits crimes, or crimes against humanity like locking up children up in cages, just as long as he continues to associate himself in their values (even though it's nothing more than a con) His mental disorder is such that he could give a shit about them just as long as they continue to support him.
Maybe is a loaded word. I know of none of Trump's political opponents who are doing anything wrong. Hunter Biden is not immune from oversight. We have laws that can be used to investigate him if there are creditable allegations. There aren't and Trump improperly and illegally asked a foreign government, two of them at least, to investigate him,...not the U.S. legal system. As far as Hunter's qualifications, he holds a B.S. in History from Georgetown and a law degree from Yale. He was executive vice president at MBNA America, served in the United States Department of Commerce, co-founded Oldaker, Biden & Belair, and was vice chairman of the Amtrak board. He co-founded Rosemont Seneca and BHR Partners, was with Boies Schiller Flexner LLP, and founded Eudora Global. While with Boies Schiller Flexner, So it can hardy be said he had no qualifications. I would say Hillary Clinton is the most investigated person on the planet followed by Bill.
Trump also stated that LED bulbs are much more expensive than incandescent and that they make one's face orange. He tries to form national policiy based on his cluelessness and vanity. Trump orders toilet review: Americans are ‘flushing toilets 10 times, 15 times’ Savannah Behrmann, USA TODAY Published 9:50 p.m. ET Dec. 6, 2019 | Updated 8:10 a.m. ET Dec. 7, 2019 Trump: Americans are ‘flushing toilets 10 times, 15 times’ excerpt: "The new bulb is many times more expensive, and, I hate to say it, it doesn't make you look as good," Trump said.
Trump started a trade war with China which gave an incentive to U.S. businesses to transfer to countries like Vietnam and Bangladesh to try to avoid tariffs. Trump has been upset with Mexico from the start. Those countries are where Trump and his daughter import their clothing products at a very low cost and sell them at a very high markup at places like Macy's. He pleads innocence and victimhood by blaming all of it on other countries allegedly manipulating their currency, the same claim he made recently about Argentina and Brazil when he capriciously reinstated tariffs on them. video: David Letterman and Donald Trump discussing where Trump's clothing products are made.
Trump Claims Giuliani “Wants to Go Before Congress” About Ukraine Trip By Daniel Politi Dec 07, 2019 6:50 PM Trump Claims Giuliani “Wants to Go Before Congress” About Ukraine Trip excerpt: "President Donald Trump said his personal attorney Rudy Giuliani will be issuing a report about what he found in his Ukraine trip and present it to Congress and the Justice Department. Talking to reporters Saturday before traveling to Florida, Trump claimed he had no idea what Giuiliani was doing in Ukraine but insisted “he has a lot of good information” that he will share. “He has not told me what he found, but I think he wants to go before Congress,” Trump said. “I hear he has found plenty.” Trump also said that Giuliani is “going to make a report, I think to the attorney general and to Congress.” The president added that his lawyer “says he has a lot of good information” but admitted that “I have not spoken to him about that information yet.”"
He want to do that so he could spring some new wild ass claims at the last minute to monkey wrench things and cause the Democrats to delay and investigate some more. Trump wants to buy time.
Trump also claimed he had no idea what his former attorney Cohen was doing with Stormy Daniels payments, the Cohen who was later convicted and is now incarcerated.
Trump is trying desperately to keep his tax documents private from NY officials investigating the Stormy Daniels payments. These are the tax documents Trump said he would happily release when he was running for President. Mueller discovered the issue during his investigation and handed over the matter to NY state officials because it wasn't within the scope of the investigation involving Russia. Trump is now claiming that state officials such as those in NY have no right to the documents, even ones held by a third party and involving a criminal investigation, because he says it infringes on his ability to be President.
Trump should consider having Giuliani address the nation from the Oval Office on live prime time TV or even do the State of the Union address. Attorney General Bill Barr could be a part of a national TV address also. He's been making trips overseas similar to Giuliani's Ukraine correspondence. During his July phone call, Trump said Barr would be calling the president of Ukraine to discuss matters such as the alleged computer server that is supposedly in Ukraine with Hillary's deleted emails on it.
