The polls have consistently shown the same pattern since Trump tool office--ranging from 35-45%, never a majority, with a majority of unfavorables.
Ford seemed to have difficulty doing either of those solo. He did have some expertise in pardoning Nixon and his cronies.
That is classic Trump. His action was rash. It doesn't appear that he spent any serious amount of time sitting with his national security team (what's remains of it) or Congress to discuss option and to prepare for possible retaliation attacks later by Iran or rogue groups. He made a whimsical decision that he thought would maximize the humiliation of the Iranians in the public eye. Instead of keeping a low profile, he foolishly bragged about it publicly and made more threats that included hitting cultural targets in Iran and now sanctions on Iraq. It's the same mindset as when he humiliated the Congressional delegation heading to the airport to visit U.S. troops in Afghanistan by canceling its military flight. The intent was to scald the Congressional members in the public eye and maximize his thrill of getting even wth Pelosi who he perceived as usurping him. He behaved similarly when he publicly bragged about his bombing of Syria while at Mar-a-Lago and at the same time raving about his cake (damaging others while applauding himself). Trump didn't foresee the problems that are occurring now which he sowed when he pulled out of Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action in May 2018 and decided to inflict maximum punishment on the Iranian economy, which appears to be yet another attempt to vandalize the work of the previous administration. The calling up of 3500 members of the 82nd Airborne gives the impression that air strikes on Iran may be in the works, which precipitated Pelosi to introduce a war powers resolution. The assassination in Iraq will give Trump a short-term boost with his followers who feel he scored a point for them, not realizing the possible escalating repercussions of it in the Mideast that can become more damaging to him than his impeachment, which, like his behavior toward Iran, was caused by his short-sighted thinking and lack of considering consequences.

how do we know Iran was even honoring the nuke deal ? they didnt even want anyone inspecting their facilities.
The United States Armed Forces just told the Iraqi government that they would respect their request and leave Iraq. This public statement came just hours after Trump tweeted that he would charge Iraq for the building of Balad Air Base and threating to Sanction the country in a way which would make Iran's sanctions look lame. The statement from the military gives indication the generals might now start to over-ride Trump's mouth.

More on pompeo, a good Christian. This from his 2010 election. "In the general election, Pompeo defeated Democratic nominee Raj Goyle, a member of the Kansas House of Representatives. Pompeo received 59% of the vote (117,171 votes) to 36% for Goyle (71,866).[34] During Pompeo's campaign, its affiliated Twitter account shared, then deleted, a link to an article calling Rep Raj Goyle, his Cleveland, Ohio-born,[35] Indian-American opponent a "turban topper" who "could be a muslim, a hindu, a buddhist etc who knows". The tweet, recommending the piece as a "good read", led to an apology from Pompeo.[36] Pompeo received $80,000 in donations during the campaign from Koch Industries and its employees."
Dude, nothing really changed in the last 3 years, you pulled out of a couple war zones, and the economy got better
