No surprises that Iran won’t allow involvement from USA/Boeing with the investigation in to the Tehran crash.

Let’s hope the cause can be identified for the future safety of air travel.

Trump administration briefing on Iran angers Republican senators, boosts effort to restrict presidential power

    excerpt:

"WASHINGTON — A briefing by Trump administration officials about the U.S. military strike that killed Iran’s most famous general backfired on Wednesday, angering two Republican senators and driving them to support a Democratic effort to require congressional approval for any further military engagement.

A visibly angry Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, told reporters after the 75-minute briefing from administration officials that he was now supporting a war powers resolution introduced last Friday by Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va.

“I walked into that briefing undecided,” Lee said in the basement of the Capitol, near the high-security briefing room used to discuss classified information. “I walked out decided.”

“That briefing is what brought me onboard,” Lee said. He described the Trump administration officials — including Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and Secretary of Defense Mark Esper — as treating the assembled lawmakers like “little boys and girls” by asking them not to support the Kaine proposal, which would require a debate over the president’s order on Jan. 3 to kill Iranian general Qassem "

Jim Bakker was known for his sex scandals with women and money schemes.

His wife, Tammy Faye, the one who would frequently cry in self-pity with her overdone mascara running down her face, promised to stand by him during his problems. She divorced him after he went to prison.

Bakker's ministry was called PTL (Praise The Lord).

During his scandals, people said that PTL really stood for:

    Pass The Loot

    Pay The Lady

Trump threat about striking 52 targets in Iran dates back to the strained relations between the two countries in 1979.

    excerpt:

    "Iran’s deposed shah

When President Trump ordered an attack on Maj. Gen. Qassim Suleimani of Iran while at Mar-a-Lago, his private club in Florida, it wasn’t the first time the Sunshine State had featured in an American-Iranian drama.

In early 1979, Shah Mohammed Reza Pahlavi — who had stayed in power thanks partly to a C.I.A.-led coup in 1953 — fled an uprising against his autocratic government. For help relocating him to the U.S., American officials turned to David Rockefeller, a banker who considered the deposed ruler a prized client.

The Carter administration grew wary of the relocation plan after a mob stormed the American Embassy in Tehran. But Mr. Rockefeller persisted, and that fall, the shah was permitted to fly to Fort Lauderdale, Fla., en route to New York, where he would receive treatment for cancer.

Iranian students retaliated days later by seizing the Tehran embassy and taking 52 Americans hostage. The shah promptly left the U.S., but the hostage crisis would last 444 days and cast a pall over relations with Iran for decades."

Appeals court lifts block on $3.6 billion for Trump border wall plan

    excerpt:

"A divided federal appeals court has lifted a lower court’s order blocking $3.6 billion in military construction funds that President Donald Trump planned to use to finance an expanded and improved border wall.

The New Orleans-based 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals issued a brief order on Wednesday granting the Trump administration’s request to stay the injunction that U.S. District Court Judge David Briones, based in El Paso, Texas, issued "

As I’ve pointed out before the right wing plan to pack the US courts with right wingers (irrespective of merit) has always been an attempt to bypass the democratic process.

Basically the courts could block any progressive policy or law put forward by a democratically elected left wing government, while allowing through any actions of a right wing one even if they are clearly unconstitutional.

I mean this is authoritarianism 101 the destruction of an objective and independent judicial system.

Time for Trump to take out his Sharpie pen again to highlight his misleading statements.

He could even threaten to fire government healthcare officials if they point out his mistakes and don't support his misleading claims, like he aparently did with NOAA regarding his doctored hurricane tracking chart.

Trump makes misleading brag about lower cancer deaths

    excerpt:

"President Donald Trump appeared to claim credit today for a record drop in cancer death rates that occurred the year he took office. Scientists say lower smoking rates, earlier detection and better drugs are responsible for a steady decline in cancer deaths since 1991.

The president, who unsuccessfully advocated cutting $4.5 billion from the NIH budget last year, tweeted that U.S. cancer death rates are the lowest in recorded history, adding there is “a lot of good news coming out of this Administration.”"

Statue mocking Donald Trump torched in Slovenia

    excerpt:

"LJUBLJANA, Slovenia — A wooden statue mocking U.S. President Donald Trump was burned to the ground Thursday in Slovenia, the birthplace of his wife Melania, authorities said.

The nearly eight-meter (26-foot) high construction, erected last year in a village in northeast of Slovenia, showed Trump with his trademark hair style, blue suit, white shirt and a long red tie. His right arm — fist clenched — was raised high like that of New York’s Statue of Liberty."

Statue mocking Donald Trump torched in Slovenia

    excerpt:

"The first lady, born Melanija Knavs, changed her name to Melania Knauss when she started modeling. She settled in New York in 1996 and met Trump two years later.

There are mixed feelings about Melania in Slovenia where hopes were high that she would promote her picturesque Alpine home country after Trump took office. But she has rarely mentioned Slovenia in her public appearances, and hasn't visited the small central European country since Trump's inauguration."

Sounds similar to Trump. Scandals with women and finances and secret hush money payments from illegitimate funds.

The scandals that brought down the Bakkers, once among US's most famous televangelists
Jim and Tammy Faye Bakker once held a multimillion-dollar TV empire.

The scandals that brought down the Bakkers, once among US's most famous televangelists

    excerpt:

"Two months later, the Bakkers disclosed to their viewers in a videotaped message that Tammy Faye was being treated for drug dependency. But then they were rocked again when their hometown newspaper, The Charlotte Observer, published an expose revealing Jim Bakker had a sexual encounter more than 6 years earlier with Jessica Hahn, a young church secretary from Long Island, New York.

Hahn later claimed that in December 1980, when she was 21 years old, Jim Bakker allegedly sexually assaulted her. The ministry then paid more than $200,000 in hush money. Jim Bakker disputed her account of a sexual assault and years later, he wrote in his book, "I Was Wrong," that the sex was consensual."

Exactly correct. Trump's legacy will have been to pack the courts with right wing judges. Albeit, he was aided by the fucking republican senate.

White House wants to change environmental rules to speed up highway projects, pipelines and more
By Juliet Eilperin and Brady Dennis
    January 09, 2020

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/clim...248fda-325a-11ea-9313-6cba89b1b9fb_story.html

    excerpt:

"The White House is moving to exempt projects without significant federal funding from environmental reviews that have been required for 50 years, a major shift that would make it easier to build mines, expand airports and lay pipelines, among other things, according to three people familiar with the proposal.

The individuals spoke on the condition of anonymity because President Trump is expected to unveil the plan Thursday morning.

The proposed changes would narrow the scope of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), which requires federal agencies to assess the impact of a major project before a spade of dirt is turned and to include the public in the process."

  19. Trump just plays a predictable game of deconstructing everything. It never comes down to if he's really adequate. Everyone is inadequate.
