you think that double standard is bad? all i want to do is wear some pink half cropped shirts with cute puppies on it. at least you can lie and say the person your sleeping with is your steady boyfriend and not have people judge you.
Im with you, I think theres a double standard. In fact for some reason I was thinking about this last night. Im sorry that you find yourself a victim of our societys way of thinking and I hope that you find peace, soon.
The thing is that men have always been, and probably always will be driven to be far more sexually active - which makes evolutionary sense - a man can inseminate a number of different women every day, whereas once a woman is pregnant, any further sex is surplus to requirements for the next 9 months. It is a direct of this sexual availability that prostitution has always been recognised as being the oldest profession. Simply as a matter of supply & demand, men have always been more willing to pay for sex, regardless of the physical appearance of the partner than women have been likely to hire a gigilo, who would probably have to be quite a looker at that. However, just because a woman may have her own sexual desires doesn't mean she has to become a prostitute. She should be true to her principles & if she wants it, there's never going to be any shortage of willing partners.
a tv show is not reality. tv shows are often propaganda. any argument argument about reality can not be substantiated by a fantasy replacing fact.
Actually, the opposite biological argument can and has been made. That men 'tire out', after shooting one load; whereas women can keep fucking multiple dudes indefinitely. In fact, prostitution is just that. See sperm competition. That is actually an argument for the biological basis of female promiscuity. Gangbangs, bukkakes, and whatnot may have their biological sex appeal too. Not to mention that, if we are to believe Darwin, biology is far from static.
You know what I find ironic about the double-standard? While it's basis tends to originate from religious origins or families who claim to know the word of god (the bible), the bible actually says something quite different about a women's natural want for sexual intimacy and a meaningful relationship, and about forgiveness. And it also doesn't let males off the hook either for promiscuity. That was something human society decided to make up, that guys should take pride in being players. But no they think shaming will make someone repent....I don't remember one instance in scripture where Jesus used a shaming or bullying technique to get others to repent/convert to the Christian faith. So why do modern day "Christians" do it? I have no idea. So cheer up Samantha and if you want to change your ways do so, but if you don't feel the need to then I guess...stay safe. Also women tend to look down on guys who play around. So I think the double standard is exaggerated and is biased based on the gender you get a response from.
I heard an interesting program recently about the 18th century "rake" - an ideal of masculinity that focuses on the seduction and sexual conquest of women. Women were seen as pretty much objects to be pursued and once bedded were quickly discarded as cheap, sullied and disgusting. Its quite easy to draw parallels from this to the double standard in modern attitudes towards sex - like the idea that women should be virtuous and chaste (i.e. play hard to get) and need to be tricked/seduced into having sex (conquered) and also the distaste for promiscuous women whilst no blame is attached to the male "stud". Of course, if anyone with half a brain thinks about this for two seconds it becomes apparent that this is a totally illogical double standard and that men who think like this are gits.
That totally explains a lot, and to be honest you can see how that same view on girls and women are portrayed in pop culture today, whether it's the MTV shows, disney shows aimed at literally children....to a point I wonder if the Christian crowd had a grain of truth, this culture is bad and getting worse. Statistics definately show the mental health strain on youth today, just based on the prevalence of more eating disorders NOW than in decades past.
To be honest, with every single one of my sexual partners, it's always been the woman that has made the first move. Needless to say, though (apart from my very first experience, which is another story), I've always been in total agreement.
