The end of the world is at hand?

If you actually believe that, then we have nothing further to discuss. Since you've chosen to abandon rationalism, we have no common ground from which to work from. I've chosen rationalism and the scientific method; you've chosen pseudoscience and sensationalism. Since we have no common ground, debating this is rather silly.

When you at least accept the basic principles of logic and skepticism, send me a message and I can show you why you're wrong about all of these things. Until then, I'm done with you.

Sounds Mark Twain-ish to me, but I'm no expert. That's a true statement, regardless. Also mankind is arrogant, because when we say the end of the world, do we not actually mean the end of us? The planet was here long before we arrived, but our arrival is heralded as 'the beginning.' Arrogant, but also correct, relatively speaking. There were upright walking homonids, post-Neanderthal, Homo sapiens sapiens to be exact, dwelling on this rock around 35,000 years ago, per those who study these things. The beginning of 'our' civilization was a mere 6,000 years ago, in Sumeria, where the wheel and cuneiform were invented. There's been 5 mass extinctions, they say we are in the midst of the 6th, and there's a lot of correlation between wet and dry alternating climates. I don't really know details, but I do know humans are not the star of the earth show, just because we're here now. We could very well be on our way out, whether of our own doings or things of a greater scale than we can measure.
