Here are a few basic observations I've made about communism. Those of you defending the system, please point out where I'm wrong in my observations. 1. If I work, I benefit from all of society's work. 2. If I don't work, I benefit from all of society's work. 3. No one will own property, but I can "borrow" property for as long as I want. 4. Society as a whole will own my toothbrush. 5. The only way to achieve this massive and constant redistribution of wealth is to have a gargantuan, totalitarian government. 6. Every single person in charge of wealth redistribution, without a single exception, will redistribute it fairly. 7. I don't have any right to NOT participate in this system, other than moving somewhere else. Please point out where I am mistaken in my assessment of communism. Power and wealth are NEVER evenly distributed; it is both impossible and undesirable.
Well, first of all, you are a capitalist, which makes you an evil greedy capitalist pig with cobwebs in your brain and some sort of prejudice which socialists and communists never have. And second of all, Marx, Engels, Marx Marx Marx!
Dear Kandahar, Hope this answers all your questions. 1 . Right, whether you want to work or not, everything is free for anyone. 3 Take for exemple when you go in a hotel room. The place is furnished (bed, tv, etc,) that you don't own but you use freely. I don't think anybody else would like to use your toothbrush, you could consider it yours just like the food you'll pick up at the market. The merchandise will be distributed in stores and warehouses just like today, it will be up to the consumer to pick up what he needs. Every house, apartment, and lodging unit would be totally furnished. Once you decide which one you want, you sign up for a year minimum. Before moving in, you decide what pieces of furniture you'd rather have and exchange them at the warehouse just like you do with the books or dvds from the library today. What do you mean? Unless you refuse all what is offered to you free, if you refuse to eat, then you would not be participating in the system. You would still be free to do so. No one will force you to eat or take a cab. That is in this capitalist society, where all the goods in stores belong to the banks not to the people who produced them. it Possible it is, but why is it undesirable that everyone gets their share of the pie? Besides that Kandahar, thinking that people are just loafers and suckers that is a very poor opinion of your fellow man and yourself.
Correct Not working will probably effect your social life but if you can live with that then yes. Yes but it would be up to the people to democraticly come up with a lending system and it may have limmits so like libraries and video rentals, you might have a time limmit to return it but you can check it out again. Yet like I said stuff like housing would logically be different as you can borrow as long you want, so the lending system would be dependant on what your talking about. In theory yes, in practice the rest of society wouldn't want it back so you can keep. (except society might want to recycle it when you want to discard it) Wrong via grass root community direct democracies else you would get a ruling class and we can't have that. redistribution will be under democratic control. Yup.
