We had a 'Mr Whippy' too More 'too much information': It's 'soft serve' apparently... Soft serve is a type of ice cream that is softer than regular ice cream, as a result of air being introduced during freezing. Soft serve ice cream has been sold commercially since the late 1930s. Over Memorial Day weekend of 1934, Tom Carvel, the founder of the Carvel brand and franchise, suffered a flat tire in his ice cream truck in Hartsdale, New York. He pulled into a parking lot and began selling his melting ice cream to vacationers driving by. Within two days he had sold his entire supply of ice cream and concluded that both a fixed location and soft (as opposed to hard) frozen desserts were potentially good business ideas. In 1936, Carvel opened his first store on the original broken down truck site and developed a secret soft serve ice cream formula as well as patented super low temperature ice cream machines Was Margaret Thatcher really part of team that invented Mr Whippy? http://www.theguardian.com/politics/reality-check/2013/apr/17/margaret-thatcher-team-mr-whippy

Damn tap hat van had a lot of bullet holes in it...still not sure exactly what happened. They just recently painted the van that's always parked outside back white lol. It was one of those vans covered in graffiti, now it just looks like a regular new white van and sticks out a bit too much (for a van like that...all the other cars are nice) so it will be interesting to see how long it stays that way. I think it looks better tagged up with burners all over it. There's always another van always parked around the corner a lot that the only way to describe it is it's one big high def tv...the sides is a tv and the back and I see it a lot with the engine running and the Tvs turned on but no one inside. I'll have to take a picture maybe next time I see it if I remember. Tried to do a google search for it but all I got were pictured for that MTV show "Washington heights"...never really watched that show but I do live in that "hood"
Back in '77 or so this guy bought an antique ice cream truck and fixed it up for use. We painted the Grateful Dead ice cream kid on the side. The music box was exactly that and it was driven off the rear axle... the tune would change with the speed of the truck. This would be a cue for the driver to stay at an even speed while out selling and you would disconnect the music box when between routes, etc. Sitting out in the front yard of a friends house one day having a beer or two and we hear this gaud awful sound coming up over the hill... Here comes Charley at about 50 mph with the music box kicked in.... Shyt like this only happens when tripping. :2thumbsup:
Ice cream truck goes through my neighborhood , every day, all summer, and I can always hear the sweet tinker bell sound of it....not sure what song it is, though.
^haha lol I've seen a drug dealer driving a mini van same kind u'd expect a soccer mom to drive...he wanted to be inconspicuous...lol
Every once in a while when we werent getting ice cream we would yell from the backyard or bedroom window for the ice cream truck to stop. Then we would sit and watch to see how long he would wait for.
Strange I don’t remember them serving Klondike bars, I do remember Creamsicle (with orange sherbet) chocolate eclairs, Strawberry Shortcakes, Italian Ice, Ice Cream Sandwich, Twin Pops, Red, White & Blue pops....:2thumbsup: Hotwater
