The strawberry does not overtake the beer. It tastes hoppy as a pale ale should, with a subtle strawberry flavor in the finish.
I would try it :cheers2: Fruity puree though, doesn't need to be a common ingredient in beer in order to make beer multi dmensional. It has already many dimensions without putting cocoa beans or some puree in it. As an experiment or a fun quirky alternative I don't really mind of course. Anything goes then.
I just got to the first post on page 99, so I have a couple pages to catch up on. Obviously, I'm dropping off my initial beer review of the night, so I may as well get on with it! First of the night: (Alc. 5.8%) Smells like: First up is a crisp (almost metallic, but probably just ginger) bite, then faint pumpkin, cinnamon spiced. And a touch of nutmeg. Tastes like: Mostly sour funk. Like wet hay that had smashed pumpkins cleaned out of it the day before. A bit of the spices come through. Overall, the taste seems largely covered by the tartness. Definitely a fall themed sour brew, but it's faint. I wish there was enough pumpkin to really know it's a pumpkin beer. (Side note: I got 3 badges on Untappd when I checked in with this beer! Mardi Gras, Land of the Free (Level 12), & Gourd To The Last Drop (Level 2). Yay!)
Interesting. I was listening to YouTube when I came across this post. Specifically, this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fS9m0Ac8PCU
I cannot think of too many beers, if any, that taste like licorice... at least not overtly. Keep in mind many stouts have a naturally chocolate flavor from the malts used. They don't necessarily have to contain actual chocolate. Guinness tastes like coffee, not because it contains coffee, but because the malts used give it that flavor. Just because a beer tastes like something, does not mean it contains those things that it tastes like. Many IPAs taste fruity, but most do not contain fruit. Others do to accentuate the already fruit-forward hop profile. Craft beer is all about pushing the boundaries. For those who do not like that sort of thing, there is always Budweiser and Coors. I think you're speaking from a place of ignorance with regard to beer. Beer is not supposed to all taste the same. Most beer styles that exist today have been around for ages, only now there is much more experimentation with the various styles.
Halfway done with #2. Figure I'll share that info while I continue catching up with the thread. (Alc. 8%) The smell: Sweet dark malt. Smoky wood... with some raisins on it. Kinda dank. The taste: Much like it smells, but smoother. there's a small bitter bite at the end... more like a nibble though, really. Overall, not a thing to gulp, that's for sure! But nice to take long sips from. Not a "go to" brew for me, but pleasant in many ways. (After a sip of soda, the sweetness isn't as pronounced anymore, but still not to be ignored.)
Hi, I'm not sure we've met. My name is Kick Frenzy and I drink craft beers for taste... and to get drunk. Granted, I don't gulp em down like they were pisswater beer. But I do drink to get drunk. Usually, anyway. Every once in a great while, I drink just to get buzzed... like if I have to drive a little while later. But yeah... pretty much every time you guys "see" me drinking, I'm getting drunk. Sometimes I don't get wasted or anything, just a step or two passed buzzed. But I like to get to get drunk to get into shenanigans that I only get into when I'm drunk.
What about veggies? I made a Wit/IPA hybrid once. I added baby carrots for it to ferment with. Tasted pretty fuckin bangin.
I looked that up on Untappd and it sounds... pretty good! I'd certainly be game tot ry it. Especially considering it has a dedcent alcohol content.
most of the time i am drinking to get a buzz, only because craft beer is too damn expensive to waste it on one purpose. i not only drink a lot because i have to get rid of kidney stones, also it relaxes me, no i dont mean being drunk relaxes me...i mean drinking anything does. i will go through a six pack of seltzer water like its a cold lager on a hot day. i am guessing it has the same effect on me as cigarettes have on people that smoke.
I wonder if its just because he's european. European breweries arent as experimental as american breweries are they? I could be wrong, maybe there are some in europe who are experimental but i've always thought of Europe as using tried and true brewing technoques that are hundreds of years old and leaving the experimentation to Americans.
Brew dogs are fucking experimental. Germans still use that purity law. So their beers are hard to change much...but belgiums beers are equal to American beers except there is just not as many. I think countries like Poland and Italy are just set in their ways so I agree with that about them.
Drinking stone coffee milk. I am at a bar next to a concert i am going to. This beer is so filling and heavy I can't guzzle it to get to the show if I want to. I am not gonna just leave it. And there is more to the story that will be explained later. (Like the silhouette if you are in the bathroom) Anyway...fighting this beer down to see mike doughty.
Westbrook Gose, first time having a gose so I have nothing to compare it to but i really like it. I very much like tart beers And i also picked up New Holland's Dragons Milk but I havent tried it yet
But seriously just read a review where someone said the westbrook gose tasted chewy What in the ever living fuck does chewy taste like
