Alrighty, got a few pages to catch up on, but shouldn't take long to do that. (Add 10 minutes for a dog walk I'm being forced into by my dog whimpering behind me right now.) For now though, almost done with beer #1 of a 4 pack. The beer: ? (Alc. 7.4%) Smells like: Coffee, caramel, and toffee notes right off the top. Some vanilla is sidled up with a smokey, whiskey soul. Tastes like: The coffee notes are stronger here. The oaked whiskey soul has increased it's bravado, while retaining some of the vanilla notes. Then there's a thin edge of sweet malt outlining the entire experience. Overall, another great offering by Innis & Gunn. Smooth with a punch. Deep, without being pretentious. As I told my wife... if anyone ever wants to get me beer for a gift, anything by "Innis & Gunn" will do just wonderfully.
"PRat", as in "pratfall", as in slapstick comedy. Pretty big ASSumption you made there. And whatever... if you don't like SL, then don't use it. Also, SL is for anyone... not just homosexuals. There's even other intolerant people there... just like you!
Then there's me. Who's on both. And figure people of any sexual persuasion are welcome at either place.
Looks tasty but i'm really not a fan of beer aged with whiskey/bourbon, etc. Too much of a bite for me I went out last night and stuck with sweetwater 420 IPA all night, the options were pretty limited at the bar I was at. I'm not the biggest fan of IPAs normally but it hit the spot yesterday No drinky for me tonight
I dont think any of the innis & gunn beers really have a 'bite' to them. They are quite pleasant and pretty easy to drink. You should give em a try
I've had other beers aged with whiskey or bourbon and didnt like them, so I dont know if I would go out of my way to try that particular beer but will keep my eye out for some of their other beers for sure
r0 is right... I've had other whiskey/bourbon aged beers that were either too sweet or bit too hard. But I've never had a bad experience with Innis & Gunn. I would suggest starting with a non-whiskey aged beer from them. Some are just oak aged, instead of whiskey oak aged. (You may be able to order them from the brewery website.)
wyndridge barn dog. it will be one of my last for a while. very nice mix of chocolate and vanilla. it says imperial but at 7% that is the lightest imperial i ever had. super smooth and nothing bad about it. very drinkable but dosnt go down so easy that its gone in a minute A
not sure what im going to get. . on the way to better beer store. but don't think I'll get anything great, to expensive. .
Narragansett coffee milk stout. I really recommend this to beer and coffee drinkers. Strong coffee taste and strong smooth milk stout taste.
Finished one and started another pretty quickly. Southbound pachyderm from round guys brewery. Honestly I only got this because it's a stout and I'm a primus fan. Strong burnt smokey flavor but let me just say this...I don't like burnt or smokey flavors. Somehow this one does it right. A nice tingling sour taste and a sweet chocolate taste hidden underneath makes the light and smooth campfire taste not only bearable but decent. B Drinkability is on par with a guinness but a bit more chewy.
