I'm always keeping my eye out for unique Ommegang offerings. Like their Game of Thrones based brews. Three years ago, almost to the day, I made this review of their "Fire and Blood":
So, I ain't got shit done since that last post. Well, online anyway. I walked the dog and some shit, but the point is... Beer #2 is a go: ? (Alc. 6.7%) Smells like: Raisin-y malt, dark chocolate nibs, and a bit of bread. And somewhere hiding in the background, some hay and soft hops. Tastes like: Bitter raisin and dark chocolate present themselves first. At the tail end, a ghost of bitter hops riding along with some slight bready whispers. Overall; oddly sweet, dry, and bitter. Not a horrible stout, possibly better at room temp (I'll see with next glass, as I took the bottle out of the fridge until then). This has a tighter profile than most stouts I enjoy, but I like it well enough. And why the hell not... here's a pic to go with it:
I'mma go have a smoke... In the meantime... this... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edmDN11BxCY you're welcome

Stopped at Eastern Shore brewing. On the way to nj. Way out of the way and average at best beers. Solid porter and good amber (their flagship) west coast ipa was ok although not my style. Extra pale ale, stout, and vienna lager were all poor examples of their particular style.
Demented is the closest brewery to my work and by far my favorite in their selection of styles. Got a flight of 5 different stouts. Will have to go back and get a flight of non stouts next work week.
Got a mystery craft beer box for $20. I am happy with the selection except for the pils. Had 5 of these already but at least none of those 5 are bad. Red horse Alpine beer dipa Flying dog dipa Stone rataskala Dog fish head tropical blonde Lagunitas brown shugga Rogue 6 hop ipa Two roads pils Flying dog Belgian style ipa Troegs first cut ipa Stone go to ipa Bronx brewery Bronx banner A golden easy ale. Drinking the Bronx one now. It's like if bud made a watered down ipa.
Hey! Wouldja look at that! I was only half a page behind and am already caught up. Which doesn't mean much, but... hey... stuff.. anywayz Another 2 beer night. Starting with the big bottle first this time: ? (Alc. 10%) Smell: Very smooth malt and hay. The essence of oak, quite subtly, permeating the entire nose. Possibly some chocolate notes in the distance. And the hint of a bright profile with an easy sweet side. Taste: Beginning with a hint of alcohol burn strolling along with the french oak soul. Then dark spices color the undertow, while tighter yeast commands the upper decks. Then the oak flavors crest just before the small warm bloom on the back end. Overall, an extremely enjoyable drink. There's a pleasant amount of dryness to this brew and a tight yeast spirit. The spices and oak conditioning are worked well into the brew. I would be happy with a stockpile of this one. (It ain't for gulping, but damn if I'm not sipping it a bit often!) And, once again, I can share the pic inspired by the beer. Yay! (Apparently, she's from Canada)
Well, I finished that last bottle and have moved on to the second brew. Exampled here: (Alc. 10.5%) Smellin: Sweet malts hit me nose first. There's lightly toasted biscuit somewhere in the back. Chocolate covered raisins hiding in the middle. And it seems there's both coffee and yeast filling out the hips of this lady. Tastin: Smoked wood and wet hay-pinched malty sweetness. Somewhere, faintly, there's a couple crackers lazing about. Not much bitterness to start, but builds nicely as you continue through the glass. Overallin, this is one to take it easy with. But well worth the sipping. No need to gulp at this level of ABV. Glad I saved this one for 2nd/last, it lends itself as an ending brew... not so much a thing to start the night with. (No hottie pic.) (I mean, have you seen the name of this thing?!?) (What is that even???)
had one of these.. taste better than it smells.. grapefruit shandy feel to it. wasnt bad in the glass. I wouldnt drink this to get drunk tho..
Stopped at rar brewery. Got 2 stouts and 2 ipa's. Their grapefruit ipa was the best of the 4. Overall it wasn't worth driving out of the way...their are places that are closer to my normal route that are better but I do like the overall vibe of the place. It would be my hangout if I lived nearby.
Got nothing to do this weekend so maybe I will take a trip to NYC to visit a brewery. Tried 3 or 4 times but always went when I was going to a game or concert. By the time I got to Brooklyn it was time to go back to the Bronx or Manhattan. Any recommendations PR? Best brewery in the city?
