Other Half would be my first choice. Singlecut, Finback, LIC Beer Project, Interboro, Gun Hill and Transmitter are also great. Of course Grimm is also based out of NYC, but they're gypsy brewers and don't yet have their own brewery. Their stuff is usually available throughout the city on tap and in bottles/cans, however. There is no shortage of great breweries in NYC.
There are also some excellent bars in NYC, including Torst, which is owned by Evil Twin's Jeppe Jarnit-Bjergso. I have never been there, but I am sure it's a hipster haven though worth checking out if you like beer. It's ranked as the best beer bar in the city. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0kIoVtzV4c4
The place looks like an old, run down factory or garage covered with graffiti on the outside. Might be easy to miss if you don't know what to look for. This is what an OH release looks like... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eFH0TAsVRMI
Hipster douchebags east coaster wankers I am drinking a disgusting Stone delicious IPA. so bitter and groce. ewie
I will be passing if it's a release day, I'm not looking to stand in any lines...well not any lines that are all the way to the next brewery.
I like a lot of Stones stuff but this particular IPA i am getting kind of sick of. very bitter and not much going on with it. I THINK i may have tried their coffee milk stout a while back but can't remember. I do like those kinds of beers though.
I pretty much always get the Stone 'Enjoy By' when it's available. The last few haven't been so good, but it's usually a pretty solid West Coast IPA. Their Xocoveza is also excellent. But... the majority of the stuff they make is pretty average and mediocre. They used to be one of my favorites.
The IPA fro mgolden road I am drinking tongiht is a bit biter with lots of citrus. Pretty decent and easy to drink
coors..so fuck you. jk .. but is drininig some coors because im a broke ass nigga.. mixing with my whiner beer ,.. midnight due.......
Got 2 pages to catch up on, so dropping this review now... Beer #1: ? (Alc. 5.5%) Smell: Subdued ale with a slight cracker rounding. Faint citrus tempered with even fainter vanilla notes. Taste: Creamy and still subdued. However, there is a very slight bitter edge giving it a small punch. Just barely on the sweeter side, but I'm not picking up any vanilla notes. Overall, a fairly nice ale. Nothing amazing, nothing bad. Kind of a baseline "creamy ale".
And I'm on to the second beer... (Alc. 6.5%) The smell: Piney hops with a pithy edge. Faint chocolate-covered raisins. All rounded out with a smokey-sweet edge. The taste: Dry pine and faint charcoal stand out first. Then a hint of bread, rounded out with a wet, semi-sweet edging. All carried by a lightly bitter undercurrent. Overall, not a bad brew. A bit on the bitter/dry/piney side for my tastes, but crafted fairly well. If dark piney brews are your thing, this would be worth a try.
And now for my final brew of the night. It's a bigger bottle, so it'll last for a couple glasses or so. But anyway... The beer: (Alc. 8.0%) Smellin: Sweet, bready and a bit of peach. Perhaps a bit of coriander and citrus. Tastin: Sweet and bready. Some back-end funk meanders along with a touch of citrus and stone fruit. A bit of heat on the tail-end borne from darker spices. Overall, a well made brew. On the sweet side, but not overbearingly so. A bit creamy and thick of body. I even have a pic (from Second Life) to go along with this one!
