Not that far. I'm actually gonna be passing through it today but I wont have time to stop cuz im heading north a bit. I don't think i've ever heard of this brewery. Anything in particular that stands out from them I should try??
I've never had any of their beers. They don't distribute, so they're very hard to get, especially on the East Coast. All I know is that their beers are comparable to some of the New England breweries like Tree House and Trillium.
And then a week later, I came back. With a new beer review. The only one of the night, since I got a 4 pack of one kind of beer. (SHOCK! SURPRISE! AGHAST!) Anyhoo... the review... The beer (Multitude - Departed Soles Brewery): (Alc. 6.4%) Smelly: Stone fruit hops with a distant dry, pine bitter edge. Faint black pepper rounds out the body with some sweet malt hiding in the bushes. Tasty: Smooth, slightly (stone) fruity with a soft bitter edge. Warmth from black pepper fills out the rest, with just a touch of sweetness on the back end. Overall, a pleasant enough IPA. Smooth and creamy with a chest warmth in the second half of the show. A coy sweetness plays in the distance.
Well, I finished my 4-pack. Didn't expect to do that and still be as awake as I am. Time to go get less sober.
Had my first Monkish beer yesterday. It was as awesome as it looks. Monkish truly is the West Coast version of Tree House.
Double IPA! That's gotta taste like a grapefruit or something. I used to really like IPA. I also used to like one called "Fire Rock" from Longboard brewing Company, I think it was. Lemme check on google... Nope. I'm wrong. It was Kona Brewing Company, but I had the "Fire Rock" right. Anyway it's a pale ale and I thought it was good. It's pretty cheap if I remember correctly. Something like $10 for a six pack at Target.
Yup... lots of grapefruit and other citrus flavors with this one. Also a good amount of dank, resinous flavors. Also extremely smooth and soft.
Monkish out of Torrance, California. One of the best breweries in the country if not the world. Definitely the best brewery in your state. If I lived where you do I would be drinking this every day.
Hello there, boys and girls! If I'm here, I must be time for (more) beer! Tonight, I started with Dogfish Head's Romantic Chemistry (2017). (Alc. 7.2%) Smell: Apricot wafting out first, holding hands with a dull-bitter edge. Distant crisp notes highlight soft ginger. And what seems to be just a pinch of black pepper. Taste: Here we have a reversal, with ginger and pepper notes stepping up front. Apricot/mango follows through in a long middle, before ginger returns for an encore on the tail end on the palate and in the chest. The dull hops bitter edge peeks in and out, from beginning to end. Overall, there's a stronger bite to this than I expected, due to the ginger and black pepper notes. The mangoes are hidden alongside the apricot, softly coloring the stone fruit flavors. - I'm already done with that one, so I'll be back in a bit with the next review. Just have to post it at that other forum first, then Untappd, then here. And that'll be the last of my reviews for the night. (Unless I end up opening my airplane bottle size of Casamigos tequila I recently got.)
Aaaand... I'm back. I'm not sure if this next bottle is skunked at all, or if it's supposed to taste like this. Untappd reviews don't mention the funk, but it doesn't taste completely out of place either. anyweigh.... The brew (Doom, by Founders): (Alc. 12.4%) Smells: Sweet and smoky. Dank hops with a slight bitter lining. A little funky stone fruit layered in the background. Tastes: Funk up front and throughout, with a dank soul. The bitter side of hops gently lining the experience. A ghostly bourbon bite hides between the lines. Some smoky charcoal colors the soul. Overall, much more funk than I thought this would have. Certainly not a bad beer though! Drink with care.
Better than Stone and Lagunitas (now owned by Heineken)?? Fuck yes! Russian River is still kickass, but they're not in the same league as Monkish. Monkish is in a league of their own. Monkish is probably the best brewery in the US next to Tree House. Stone and Lagunitas used to be at the top 5-10 years ago, but not anymore. Most of the beers they put out now are pretty much average.
Hey there fuckers! Sup? Time for another night o drinkin! Tonight I'm starting with a tribute to one of my favorite shows. Currently waiting for the next season to start in several months, but excited for the spin-off this Sunday. What could it be? Well, it not only could be, but it IS... ...THIS: (Alc. 9.4%) Smellin: Woodsy molasses comes forward first, holding hands with sweet malts. A bit of a cracker character follows up, while the bitter edge of hops is a faint whisper in the background. Tastin: Smokey wood steps to the front, molasses rides along in the passenger seat. Sweet malt with a cracker foundation follows through, revealing itself as part of the foundation. Faintly on the edges, the hops lend their bitter balance. Overall, this shit is really tasty! Heavy body with a crisp punctuation. It makes me want to drink it much faster than I probably should. (Also, might've been best as my last drink of the night, but... *shrug* ...life goes on.)
Sounds like a pretty good plan. Also reminds me that I've got some leftover strip steak from a diner. I'll probably attack that after my beer is gone, at some point tonight... or rather, early morning. Hmm.. also leftover fried shrimp. Damn it... I gotta stop talking about food. That shit'll ruin my drunkening flow!
