Moving on to yet another Tired Hands beer, this is their newly released Ochre Graves, a double IPA brewed with oats and coconut oil. Canned 8-14-17 8% ABV Another ultra soft, super smooth IPA. Tons of candied fruits, key lime, coconut and citrus pith. AMAZING!! 4.75/5
Hello there. I'm back for another night of drinkin and postin! I got me a sexy night planned. Starting with: (Alc. 8.9%) (Goose Island - Gillian) Smell: Honey and oak waft forward first. Then a slight wet hay funk rides through on a blanket of white wine notes. Hidden throughout, white pepper squares this circle. Taste: Faint honey and oak notes, followed with laid back wet hay funk. Finishing with white pepper heat on tongue, white wine warmth in chest. Overall, a very interesting beer thing. It drinks closer to champagne than it does to beer, what with the tiny bubbles and delicate flavor notes. A good choice for introducing people to the funkier side of beers. And really, I only had one choice of who to post to go with this drink... (And now to catch up on the last couple pages.)
And that's about as far as I got before I rabbit holed myself. First went off to find Bodhi in Solarbabies, which was actually spelled Bohdai. Then went looking up people from that movie. So, Jami Gertz led me to Lost Boys, which led me to Alex Winter, which led me to find out the new Bill & Ted movie is in good hands! (Also, the new Flatliners looks like a decent modernization.)
Also, I just finished that Gillian and I'm off to grab... um.. (what the hell was that next beer? umm...) Oh yeah! It's time for... (Alc. 6%) (Breckenridge Brewery - Ophelia) Smells: Dank hops slam my nose, pine and grapefruit just storming out of the gate. For some reason, I just got a sense of grape seed. A wheat-laden spirit ghosting through it all. Tastes: Strong citrus/pine up front. Somewhat bitter hops curls the edges neatly. Wheat crushed with grape seeds sets the late-blooming foundation. Overall, a surprisingly smooth and tasty brew! I really didn't expect this solid of a flavor from this one, but hot damn... that's a good beer! (Edit: This got me my Level 18 Land of the Free badge on Untappd. Yay!)
Very cool. And only 1 1/2 hours from me. I should really try to get out there someday! I love his passion and how he thinks on beer. (Makes me want to brew again!)
And hey, speaking of beer... #3 is here! It's a bit of a whopper, but nothing to fear. Want a look? Of course, my dear! (Alc. 10.7%) (Lakefront - Brandy Barrel Aged Cherry Lager) The smell: Dark cherry brandy scents, immediately (almost simultaneously) followed quickly by a malty sweetness. With oak rounding out this brew. The taste: Dark cherry walks strong with malty sweetness. Oak barrel follows, with a brandy inspired chest warmth at the end. Overall, a smooth and tasty brew from Lakefront. Mostly sweet with a small (yeast-y?) bite. Easily a sipping beer and not a thing to just gulp down. It would probably pair well with some kind of exotically prepared steak or white fish. (The best I have is a two day old Italian sub/hero/grinder... but probably would be great right about now. Or after the beer anyway.) And a hawt pic to end the beer run...
Drinking Smooth Beats Miami from Finback (Queens, NY), an IPA brewed with coconut. Really nice coconut flavor to this, but somewhat thin in body. For me this didn't quite live up to the hype. Still good, just not great. 6.2% ABV 3.85/5
Drinking Nordic Saison from Hill Farmstead (Greensboro Bend, Vermont). Easily one of the best saisons I have ever had, from one of the most acclaimed breweries in the entire world. This is a super sour, crisp, dry saison. It sets the bar for how saisons should taste but rarely do. 7.4% ABV 4.75/5 Fuck me this is awesome!
This should be interesting. A bourbon barrel-aged IMPERIAL malt liquor coming in at 14.2% ABV. Not sure if I will drink this tonight or on Monday night, but when I do I will give the verdict.
(How does DKML stand for "Where the good Lord split ya"?) Oh, hello! Only 6 days since my last drinkening? I must be getting some talent back in me bones! (Hell, I even got my old forum busy again when I went proclaiming the site might be dead when it was returning an expired domain error for a few days.) (And by "busy", I mean a couple other people are now posting fairly regularly again.) ANYfuckinwho... BEER! Tonight, I just have one: (Alc. 9.7%) (Yard's - Cape of Good Hope) Smellin: Grapefruit greets me first. Carried by slightly bitter, but not harsh, hops. Perhaps a touch of grape seed. Tastin: Sweet at first, then a peppery follow through. Slightly bitter hops takes over for the second half, curling under the tongue as it goes. Grapefruit barely present, but lends it's taste throughout. Overall, not the best offering from Yard's, not bad either. More hoppy bitterness than I personally like, but it fits decently in this profile. It has a nice, slightly creamy, mouthfeel. Not strongly recommended, but I wouldn't turn it down either.
I started looking for one, but couldn't find a definitive pic of a sexy hawtie that was apparently in, or from, the Cape of Good Hope. It happens. Especially when I'm late at starting my drinking and just want to get to hangin out! But, you do have a good point. I should probably find something at some point and post it here (and the other forum). I'm 1 1/2 beers in, so shouldn't be long before I'm ready to start surfing Image results. (I just have to remember not to post nudie pics here! lol)
