So... I ahte to admit it, but I dumped almost half of that last beer.
Just too bitter for my tastebuds tonight.
    *shrug*

    So, here we are.
    Moving on to...

    Beer #3:
    (Alc. 8.8%)
    (Cigar City - Good Gourd)

Smellin: Soft, dark pumpkin. Spices and pie crust. A touch of vanilla in the distance.

Tastin: Soft, creamy pumpkin pie. Spices and vanilla trotting along, hand in hand. And just a faint burn, late in the palate.

Overall, a tasty brew, but not as overtly pumpkin as I was hoping for. A bit odd... but can't quite place why. Too much vanilla? Too much of an alcohol taste, but without being "boozy"? Not sure, but... it's probably the best of a less than stellar night.

    And, uh... for the pic...
I'm matching the "it's pumpkin, but not quite right" vibe here...

I have heard some very good things about both Schalfly Pumpkin Ale and Cigar City's Good Gourd. I haven't had them as I have not seen them locally, but from what I remember the two were ranked among the best pumpkin/spiced beers a few years ago. I am not sure if this is still the case as so many breweries have opened up and continue to all the time.

I haven't been posting many of the beers I've had lately, except on Untappd. Yesterday I went to my favorite pub in Rochester for lunch, Tap & Mallet, where I ordered their amazing Cuban sandwich. While I was there I had about three beers. Pictured below along with my Cuban is one of those beers, which happens to be Double Dry Hopped Workers Are Going Home from Singlecut.

Drinking Buddy Buddies from Mikkeller, a New England style IPA.

Very Nelson (a type of hop) forward IPA with a zesty, citrus hop bite upfront, and a beautiful white grape finish.

    6.9% ABV

Drinking Solstice d'ete from Dieu du Ciel of Quebec.

This is a sour ale brewed with raspberry.

This is a fucking awesome beer.

Super sour with loads of juicy raspberry.

    5.9% ABV

Drinking Oo from Pohjala out of Estonia. This is from their "Cellar Series" and is a cognac barrel aged Baltic Porter.

these guys seem to really excel at making dark, imperial beers.

    11.5% ABV

recently purchased the DB adventure pack and it might as well be called the "sell out pack"
collabs with breckenridge, four peaks 10 barrel, golden road, and elysian.
PR calls sam adams the AB of the craft beer world, and i get that they are watered down and over marketed for how good they actually taste. however these are the beers that i would call the AB of craft beers...well them and goose island of course.

then in usual fashion they add 2 Vienna lagers into every pack (i mentioned before how much i hate when breweries do that but this post is about the beer)

vienna lager is a good lager but nothing special

no problemo is a collab with golden road and its a mexican style dark lager with natural chocolate flavor and spices......sound really good, tastes like shit. huge disappointment with this one. tasted like a cheap macro that they added some decent chocolate flavor to.

just joshin is a collab with elysian and one of the top 3 kolsch i ever had, very watered down and not much flavor....aka if you like the flavor of a kolsch (i do not) you probly wont be a big fan of this one. if i was giving a grade it would be similar to the vienna lager. not something i would buy unless my only choices were typical macros.

the only reason i got this pack was because it was late and only the supermarket was open, they had some local stuff but this was the only thing there that i have never tasted before....and extremely likely i will never taste again.

next up is glitter bomb. a collab with 10 barrel brewing and is a sour ale with grape juice.

this is a pretty good sour ale only because it dosnt taste like fruit that has gone sour. it is sour tasting though.

i would liken it more to a sour candy with a little hint of champagne mixed in with it.

C+/B- depending on my mood that day....today its a C-

    Cigar city Maduro
A brown ale...and a very good one. I can drink these like Michelob ultra or other imitation water type drinks.

Aka: they go down super easy.

Had a yuengling black and tan for the first time in a few years. Not sure if I got a bad batch or they changed the formula when they changed the can design. Either way it was my favorite beer for less than a dollar a can since the first time I have had it.
    Now it tastes like shit.
The black has almost no chocolate taste and the tan tastes closer to a macro lager

    Veldensteiner zivick'l.

Can't tell you anything about it being all the writing is in German but it is easily the worst German beer I ever had. Still a nice smooth beer to drink but an aftertaste that is just plain nasty.

Dragonsaddle from Hoof Hearted Brewing (Marengo, OH). A triple IPA that is 11.5% but drinks like 7%.

This has just become one of my top 3 IPAs, and is probably the smoothest triple I have had.

So much juicy citrus, peach and melon.

    4.8/5

Moving on to yet another beer from Hoof Hearted, this is Who'd Like To Hold My Clipboard? (w/peach).

This is a double/imperial IPA brewed with peach, vanilla and lactose.

Deceptively drinkable for 9% ABV. Lots of juicy peach, some vanilla, some earthy "green" characters, and a bit of sweetness in the finish.

    4.5/5

Hoof Hearted is becoming one of the best craft breweries in the US!!

Drinking Hazy Afternoon from Voodoo Brewery out of Meadville, PA.

This is a New England style pale ale.

This is super dank and earthy, with lots of green vegetal and onion notes. The flavor very much follows suit.

    5.5% ABV

    3.75/5

Just a few beers (the first is technically a hard cider) after work before hitting the sack for the day...

Zombie Killer from B. Nektar -- a cider or cyser brewed with honey and tart cherry. Simultaneously sweet and tart. Very light and refreshing.

Billy 18-Watt Session IPA from Singlecut. This is one of my favorite session IPAs. I make sure to buy it whenever it becomes available. Great when fresh!

I've graduated to black spiced rum. Haven't had an IPA in a while now.

I got noticed by the right people on the right beach and got accepted into their surfing clique. Drinking straight Kraken (I think it was Kraken) was part of the "initiation" for lack of better word. My girlfriend and I got tanked on this Friday night.

This stuff is no joke and it was very potent. 95 proof or something. But it tastes pretty good and I think it would be awesome in an egg nog.

Picked up what I thought was an xipa. Got home and saw it was an xpa.
Not sure what that means. I would think rolling rock is as pale as you can get. I'm expecting some michelob ultra type of paleness.
Turns out it tastes like an ipa session ale.
Light but lots of fruity tastes.
Anyway it was "tools of the trade by industrial arts brewing.
