Well hello and welcome back!

I'm not surprised that the brown sugar didn't really present itself.
I think I've only tried something similar once, maaaybe twice.
It was Lagunitas Sucks by ... um... Lagunitas, lol.

But, here's my reviews of that beer (once as I opened the first one, another when opening beer #3):

Also, I thought that 58 Ounce Porterhouse sounded good from Backshore, but I'm guessing maybe not so much.
Not surprised the Walnut Pecan Stout was good though, sounds awesome!

Ah yes... the Lil Sumpin.
Apparently all I said about it when I tried it was that it was a hoppy beer.
(I like it better when I give more descriptive.. m.. descriptions.)

The porterhouse was a big disapointment. Great beer all around but has a smokey flavor that ruins it.
Maybe paired with some bbq or smoked whitefish it might not be bad or maybe if i smoked. But smoke flavor is not what i look for in a beer.

 

Do any of you guys post on beeradvocate?

im being a naughty boy and having a pumpkin ale tonight even though its only August.

 

Im about half way through this beer, its really good. Probably one of my favorite pumpkin ales.

Also, that Elysian pumpkin beer is awesome!

No. But i wish i had kept track of all the beers i have had..as for reviews there are always people that are better at it than i am. But sometimes i will have fun and review one.

 

I'm really glad I started doing it.
In the forum where I've made most of my reviews, I have a separate thread listing them all chronologically, by page.
So now I can easily go back and see if I've tried something already and what I thought of it.

It's come in handy a few times.

I think it's the best pumpkin beer I've had yet.
Maybe some room for improvement (been awhile since I had it), but I can't remember anything else that was as tasty without getting to be too much.

 

Pumpking was always my favorite...alas i dont remember if i ever had the elysian....why didnt i keep track.

 

It's never too late to start.

 

Im on a mission to always say i might have had that but im not sure.

 

As of tonight, I'm hitting up the seasonal pumpkin beers again.
Tonight's fuel isn't as good as the Elysian Night Owl, but it is a decent brew.
Not that I'm surprised, since it's by River Horse.




Smells like: There's a faint spiced pumpkin smell on top of what smells like a wheat beer.
The more I smell it, the more the pumpkin comes across.
But it doesn't smell like it'll be over-powering at all.
Enough bottle sniffing, let's drink!

Tastes like: Very calm and understated.
It tastes like a standard beer with good body, but with something lurking beneath.
That lurking flavor resolves into a vague pumpkin pie type of taste in the tail end, as it fades out.

Overall, not a standout pumpkin offering.
However, it is a good tasting beer with decent body.
It's also not bitter or tangy, even if slightly metallic in the mid-range.

 

I dknt think I've ever seen this one.

Have u tried this one?? I bought a sixer of these a few days ago. 7.3/10
