i hate when i want to drink in public and all i have is that plastic bag.

a tulip glass brings out the aromas of a beer, i love mickeys but the bad part of them are the smell, it might be okay if you drink it quick but a warm (not very cold) mickeys smells like......uhhhg i get the dry heaves just thinking about it.

    This sucks.

    Not review worthy.

At least the can looks kinda cool.

All I have to bring to the table is Edmund Fitzgerald Porter.. TBH I absolutely love it, perfect winter beer , not a crazy ABV.. just right for winding down..

Now I'm drinking one of the most hyped (some would say overhyped) beers in the craft beer world. It's Bell's Hopslam, a beer which is brewed only once every year and often flies off the shelves as soon as it arrives in stores. It is meant to be consumed fresh.

It scores an 98 on BeerAdvocate, and 100 on RateBeer.

This is a double IPA brewed with honey.

    10% ABV.

I picked this up on Monday, the day it arrived in town.

    Canned on 1/16/17.

    This beer pours a golden-orange with a one-finger head.

The aroma is of floral and earthy citrus with notes of resin, pine, honey, peach, grapefruit, some herbaceous notes, and a big, sweet malt presence as well.

The flavor, much like the nose, is citrus forward with flavors of tangerine, lemon, grapefruit, dank resin and some pine needle. There is a fair amount of caramel sweetness from the malts, as well as some honey sweetness as well. For 10% ABV, the alcohol is very well hidden.

The body of this beer is medium and slightly creamy, with a moderate carbonation.

Overall a pretty awesome DIPA. Is it worth the nearly $20 it costs per six-pack? That is open to debate.

    Overall rating: A

It's different from year to year. Last year's was not that good. This year's is one of the better ones I've had.

Still, this beer is not what it used to be as so many better beers have since sprung up. It's still very good, however.

This is my first time seeing this beer in a can. And I've got the glass it's made for.

The can states it's "elected as best beer in the world," but I would have to contend that fo sho.

Delerium Tremens is a Belgian strong pale ale by Brewery Huyghe out of Belgium.

    8.5% ABV.

The beer pours a mostly transparent golden yellow color with some floating sediment and an initial two-finger head.

Aroma is of Belgian yeast, clove, coriander, banana and pepper, as well as an earthy, herbal and floral hop character.

Flavor is predominately banana, bubblegum and clove, with a spicy, peppery bite from the Belgian yeast. There are some floral hops coupled with some biscuit malts.

Mouthfeel is light with a vibrant carbonation and mostly dry finish.

Overall a good beer, but not nearly as good as I remember it being at one time. This is likely due to the fact that I've had many, much better beers since last having this one.

    B+

I've still got a few bottles of this in my fridge. I thought it was decent at best, and much too malty for an IPA. I was getting little oak or maple syrup.

It's worth a try, but Belgian ales as a whole seem to have fallen along the wayside in the wake of the American craft brew revolution.

    Hey there!
Only been a few days and I'm back again! (Still have a page and a half to catch up on though... :p)
I even have a new review for tonight!
Granted, I only had one beer in my fridge to drink and review (...and now wish I had more), but figured I'd get it gone and start fresh next time around.

    So yeah...

    The beer:
    (Alc. 9.3%)

The smell: Subtle malt, hidden hops. Cranberry softly detectable. A bit of honey and a slice of bread. And possibly a hint of black pepper.

The taste: Mildly sweet malt, hidden hops. A small cranberry twang, orange peel lends a bit of essence and I'm getting some possible damp hay back where the honey and bread are living. (And now that I read ginger is in here, I can easily detect that rounding out the edges as well.)

Overall, a rather enjoyable brew. Much calmer than the alcohol level would suggest. A luscious body punctuated by tight, bright trellises on the sides.

It tasted like it would've been good, if it wasn't making me want to hurl every time I took a sip.
I ended up pouring most of it in the toilet.

So yeah, I'm going to go with it having been skunked.

Luckily, the other beer I had from the same event wasn't.
    Unfortunately, I only had one.
(It's the one in the review I just posted.)

Yeah, i know. porters and stouts are my favorite for that reason. I dont really mind hoppy beers but sometimes the hops can be a little overwhelming. I guess i'm not much of a hoppy hipster.

I have yet to try a sour, i really need to change that soon
