touche you both ... I saw Elizabeth:The Golden Age last Sunday

I thought it was brilliant, but maybe i'm just easy to please. I'd watched Elizabeth: The Virgin Queen the week before on telly and we loved that; so for our anniversary we went off to see The Golden Age.

Well I did enjoy it (Elizabeth) but on the whole it was something of a missed opportunity. Great cast, potentially great story but somehow it failed to hang together, and the historical implausiilities were just too jarring. Like, Raleigh wasn't involved with the battle against the Spanish Armada, and I never heard efore that ER was supposed to have had a pash on him.

BTW I went to Borders afterwards and while they have at least 4 books on Mary Queen of Scots, one on Walsingham and even one on Bess Raleigh, there wasn't one book about Elizabeth herself. How can this be?

Saw the flintstones the movie last night on ITV2. I remember when I saw it at the cinema back in 1994. In those days cinema tickets were made out of stone. We have come a long way!

Waterloo Road, on TV this afternoon. Interesting WWII domestic story, enlivened by a bare-knuckle fight between John Mills and Stewart Granger towards the end.

    House of Flying Daggers
Not quite as good as Hero or Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon (the subtitled one, I can't STAND the dubbed version); but still a great movie.

Saw most of Donnie Darko on TV last night while I was doing other things. I've seen that film altogether too many times. Still powerful though.

Didn't think much of Requiem but I love his earlier film "Pi", maybe I'll have to revisit Requiem...

I still haven't seen Donnie Darko out of fear it would do my head in. I've always avoided Eraserhead for the same reason.

Eraserhead is fun:D If you do ever watch Donnie Darko make sure to avoid the director's cut!
