The Gun That Won the West, 1955

No, not the Winchester 1873, the Springfield Model 1865 which was the first successful breech-loader and the gun Custer used.
I think I have one laying around.

Anyway I like these kinds of movies as I can enjoy the way they use movie screens to project the backgrounds, the occasional mike boom shadow, and stupid plot developments.

I'd post the trailer but evidently this movie was so bad they burnt it.
Like near the end, Jim Bridger and his scouting party are surrounded by 5,000 Indians and they're trapped in the rocks plinking away at them with their muzzle loaders. Their only hope is that reinforcements arrive with the new breech loading rifles which will give them superior firepower.

    So what happens?
Do the reinforcements arrive and set up a skirmish line and bring the rifles to bear on the Indians?

Nooooo, on horseback they charge into 5,000 Indians waving their swords. Then a battle is shown with them clubbing the Indians to death with the rifles.
So why did they need new breech loading rifles??

Here they are up in the rocks. Notice the Cavalry to the rescue waving their swords and the guy beating the Indian with his gun up there on the mountain.
Also the chick...gotta have a chick.

    Where to Invade Next

I thought it did a decent job of comparing the quality of life in America versus Europe. Michael Moore has never been one for sticking to solid facts and figures to support his positions but I still think he's usually spot on with his ideas

Michael Moore is Michael Moore though, especially in this movie as he spent the whole time in Europe and looked very much like a stereotypical slovenly American. I wish he would make his documentaries without needing to be on camera the whole time

    Ghost of Dragstrip Hollow.

This has to be the worse movie of all time. Nothing made any sense, the hot rods were only visible for about 5 minutes total.
