Really? I quite enjoyed it. Yes, some of the effects weren't the best, but I found it to be incredibly intense, especially knowing that it is closely based on the actual disaster that happened on Everest in 1996.

Even more interesting, is how people haven't seemed to learn from what happened during that disaster. Apparently, anyone or their dog can climb Everest, if they have enough money. There is no fitness test to climb, and now it gets crowded with armchair tourists who are nowhere near the appropriate fitness level to even attempt to get to the summit.

Furthermore, and this just breaks my heart, is how disgustingly dirty the mountain is, as a result of all of the tourists it attracts. There is practically no system for sewage and waste, and the base camps are covered in human feces. The garbage piles are massive, as people can't seem to find a way to pack out what they pack in.

Had I not bothered to watch "Everest", I would have had the chance to realize how grossly disrespected that mountain actually is.

So yeah, great movie, in my opinion. I definitely connected with it on a deeper level.

I agree with you in regards to the utter disrespect that the Mountain now attracts. Hillary is rolling in his grave lol.

It could have been better with the CGI, it seemed sometimes you could see them standing next to the green background lol.

As with Intersteller, I liked it but someone other than Matthew McConauhey would have kept my attention. He just didn't fit the intellectual Space shuttle captain part very well lol.

See, I did not like Interstellar at all. It couldn't hold my attention at all, and believe me, I tried to give it a chance. I did really like the tidal wave scene, but that was it.

And what is funny, is my twin sister said Interstellar was the best movie she has ever seen.

The Intersteller concept was good; the acting, not so much. I must admit, I did fall asleep for a portion of the movie only to awake and McConoughey was still talking lol.

What ruins the disaster genres is the fact they usually make them 2.5 hrs long with only 90 minutes of quality. An actor can only fluff his/her way thru for a minimal amount of time.

Check out Enter the void, if you haven't already. Hint, it is not a disaster movie lol.

I enjoyed Interstellar, it was unique enough to stand out amongst other sci-fi movies and aside from the cameo of the other Matt in the movie, I thought the acting and character development was pretty decent. I rarely watch movies over and over again, but I think it'll be interesting to see how Interstellar ages because it was a fairly conceptual heavy movie that you had to suspend belief for on certain parts, but many of the ideas have kind of persisted beyond the movie for me and I think some aspects have a realism about them that may endure for awhile.

It was pretty entertaining, but its methods aren't very applicable in real life.

I saw Red dawn (2012), it's pretty bad. Ah well I guess it doesn't pretend to be very interesting or great, it is just a relatively light hearted teen action movie with a big theme (foreign invasion on american soil). I only watched it until the end because I was tired and didn't feel like doing anything else :p

I enjoyed it as well and am sure will watch it again some time later! I may be a sucker for the genre but with some aspects that only makes a person more critical of course.

I love the fact that it is a story driven sci-fi with NO special effects. Conspicuously artsy, like going on a lifelong space flight dressed in casual suits as if boarding an airliner.

Last nite I watched Endless Love (2013), which I got for $5 at Target, from the "Teen" shelf. I like romantic dramas even if they are made for teen girls. I had about 10 others that were on that shelf.
