Man, you guys seem to be awfully focused on my bowels. As far as doctors go, a doctor doesn't know my body better than I know my own. I can't tell you how many times I've heard doctors giving the wrong diagnosis, which they probably do more than they give an accurate diagnosis. I see doctors as doing more harm than good, but I fully understand that most people place all their faith in them because they're doctors. I would go to a doctor only if I thought it was absolutely necessary and was sure that something serious was wrong.
You're not being politically incorrect, which is both intolerant and un-hippy. I suspect you will be getting a warning from one of the trusty Hipforum mods in due time.
It's pretty hard to differentiate one type of stomach pain from another type of stomach pain, especially if it's located in the same vicinity as the appendix. This is why doctors have to send their patients for an ultrasound of the area to see if the appendix is inflamed. What I felt was in line with the symptoms of appendicitis -- the only difference is the pain slowly started to go away instead of become worse, which is how and when I knew it was not appendicitis. I never said with certainty that it was definitely appendicitis. Many people would have immediately ran out to the emergency room and paid an exorbitant copay. I decided to wait it out, and I am glad that I did. I don't mind that my initial feelings were wrong in light of what it could have otherwise been.
I guess I'm just not an alarmist about pain. 20+ years of chronic 24/7 back pain, jacked up teeth, daily chest pains, carpel tunnel (my right hand is completely numb at the moment) and the way my guts are screwed up from celiacs disease, pain and I are very intimate friends. If a little gas pain has you thinking you need surgery, man you wouldn't last 24 hours in my body.
pfff, what pussy's I didn't go running to the emergency room when I was cramping and convulsing so bad that I was shitting and puking blood for 4 hours..... probably should have though, damn near died.....LOL
You guys....who be dat? You think we are focused on your bowels? You started the thread....should we have all posted about an ingrown toenail?
You know MANY people do ya? lol Not that many people run off to the ER for a belly ache, ya did the right thing. You have a diet that I could see causing a good bit of gut problems anyway.
You don't need to visit a doctor's office to verify when you are in need of an Appendectomy; and posting to Hip Forums will not be on your list of priorities at that time.
^^^^^^^^^^ I agree with that! All this over a stomach ache? Ever since I gave up eating BOVINES and PORCINES I have not gotten sick to my stomach or vomited. And that was more than 30 years ago. I do get gas occasionally, as I eat lots of veggies and beans in particular. And it's easy to mistake gas for heart issues (rather than appendix). That is the most common diagnosis for ppl who think they're having a heart attack. Gas creates pressure around the heart. Did you know the stomach actually wraps around the bottom of the heart? Tip: eat yogurt everday. I do twice a day. Esp. after drinking alcohol (but not right away as alcohol will kill the bacteria in yogurt) As you get older you lose your ability to digest certain foods as you no longer create enough enzymes to break them down (yogurt helps with that). Also drinking alcohol will kill lots of beneficial bacteria in your gut, thus food doesn't get digested properly. Slow digestion of meat at body temp will cause it to rot, the putrefaction releasing toxic bacteria and gases. And that's not to mention the possibility of meat already carrying disease as a major vector of stomach distress. So eat your meat centric diet and live with the consequences, not to mention the karma of killing animals for your eating pleasure, and the added carbon footprint of such a diet, plus the other ecological effects of so many meat eaters on this planet. And the fact that PR promotes this diet as healthy adds to the karma involved... PR, you might want to read up on colitis, as that is another possibility if the problem returns. The fact that the pain moved from one area to another would've ruled out appendicitis and indicated a colon (not stomach) issue. Lastly, the "output" from your gut would've been another indicator as to the problem. Welcome to the world of hypochondria, PR...
