Maybe I do need to research Christianity a little more.

I have been totally appalled by the version I was introduced to. But I must say, I have come across some very intelligent Christians who actually shared similar views with me.

 

All religions have something to offer. All were created by people who knew considerably more than average about the human condition. That is why their creations have survived for centuries.

I amazed by how many will say that those who wrote these things were unintelligent barbaric half humans and so what did they know.

But these people's lives were constantly involved with the human condition, whereas now a days, with all the distractions we have, what with radio, tv, concerts, i-pods, cell phones, computers and movies, our human interactions are limited and at best mostly second hand, so what do we know?

 

Nothing wrong with a little soma from time to time, but today's reality is becoming a mixture of Brave New World and 1984 (Ruling through pain and pleasure).
