Lunar, I'm not sure what you're jealous of? His relationship with his dog? Dogs will love any owner that is nice to them, homeless or not.

How Fortunate The Man With None

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6mBijo19IQc"]YouTube - "How Fortunate the Man With None" by Berthold Brecht (poetry reading)

How Fortunate the Man with None

    You saw sagacious Solomon
You know what came of him,
    To him complexities seemed plain.
He cursed the hour that gave birth to him
And saw that everything was vain.
How great and wise was Solomon.
The world however did not wait
But soon observed what followed on.
It's wisdom that had brought him to this state.
How fortunate the man with none.

    You saw courageous Caesar next
    You know what he became.
They deified him in his life
Then had him murdered just the same.
And as they raised the fatal knife
How loud he cried: you too my son!
The world however did not wait
But soon observed what followed on.
It's courage that had brought him to that state.
How fortunate the man with none.

    You heard of honest Socrates
    The man who never lied:
They weren't so grateful as you'd think
Instead the rulers fixed to have him tried
And handed him the poisoned drink.
How honest was the people's noble son.
The world however did not wait
But soon observed what followed on.
It's honesty that brought him to that state.
How fortunate the man with none.

Here you can see respectable folk
    Keeping to God's own laws.
So far he hasn't taken heed.
You who sit safe and warm indoors
Help to relieve our bitter need.
    How virtuously we had begun.
The world however did not wait
But soon observed what followed on.
It's fear of god that brought us to that state.
How fortunate the man with none.

loneliness and proverty are not things people usually want. so, i don't think this is a very desirable state no matter how much freedom there is.

I completely concur. I know what it's like to be homeless. It's not as free as a lot of people think it to be. It is very lonely. . . just a hard time all around. The survival part is the worst part of it.

I think where some might agree is that those with, as in with possession and wealth, they try to hold onto it, even obsess over it, and become slaves of materialism. And then from there you can look into the subject buddhism...

We are all homeless and visitors to this miraculous planet and life for a brief time. Just some of us own a bunch of personal crap we have to carry around. There is a lot more to life than what we own, or having a job that imitates status. When they make me emperor of this world, there will be no money, or personal possessions. If you can't live that way, then you stuck on a island with those who have greed hatred and ignorance as there prime living principles. Life is suffering, and ignorance....best to admit it and get on with with living in the moment. :)

I think the key is finding a happy middle ground... not being selfish and greedy, but safe resources, recycle, reuse, and only take what you need. Too bad there's so many greedy capitalists and politician fucks out there.

those 'capitalists" make it feasible for you to live. If not for the profit motive, you'd have to grow all your own food, as well as the stuff to make everything else you need. you'd also have to try to defend your stuff and yourself on your own. Can you make flint knives and arrowheads, arrows, skin garments, etc? Hell no you can't. How are you going to support yourself while you learn? How will you pay your teachers? Why should anyone do something for you, or for anyone else, without getting paid for it?
