...And why the fuck are we focusing on finding new sources of energy when we should be reducing our energy consumption?

The answer is quite simple when you think about it. It's about energy dependency. The whores who are vested in our energy economy want us to consume more, whether it be oil or "green energy" (which isn't necessarily green if you're using nasty chemicals in fuel cells and/or biodiesel).

Whether or not we vote, the best way to alleviate the problem is within our personal habits. Our government is merely a puppet show, a reflection of what the majority of our people want, or rather, what the majority of our wealthiest people want. However, wealth is a two way street. If enough people demand change, the market for renewable energy will open up, and a new industry will be created. Of course, there's always this damned dependency thing, like agricultural subsidies, which stands in the way of true progress, and as you've pointed out, the up front costs of conversion ain't cheap, but I'll bet if we can pull our boys out of Iraq while spending a fraction of what it costs to be there to subsidize a sustainable energy infrastructure, we could make it an attractive option to add solar panels to our houses (I'm not talking photovoltaics either), and burn fryolator grease in our cars.

You shouldn't need money to switch your truck around.

I think he is correct. You can't use pure ethanol or methanol or whatever that stuff is in most cars and trucks. I read where farmers in Iowa were doing this, but it fouled their engines. You can use 10 per cent ethanol.

It's all a scam. "They" want everybody to go "green" while they push thru some of the most polluting and destructive stuff imaginable. Here in WV we are fighting huge high voltage powerlines which they want to string from the VA/WV border to MD, so that the big cities can have better electric service. Meanwhile our electric goes out once a week. And in order to DO that whole scenario, they must also build 4 MORE coal-to- electric plants, and open up 27,000 more acres of WV mountains to mountaintop removal. Oh, there are a bunch of folks fighting this, for sure, yours truly included. Even Senators, congressmen, and lawyers, but KING GEORGE gave away our land, telling the power companies they could have eminent domain anywhere they liked... And our illustrious state government, the Manchin Mafia, is rushing to sell out WV before the shit hits the fan. NOBODY wants this thing, but nobody can figure out how to stop it. What do ya do in a fight like that?

It's not easy fighting the government...unless you've got money...but the only way to get money is to become one of them, and who wants that? Get up in the morning and you're looking at a scum bag in the mirror while brushing your teeth. Yet when you listen to these guys talk, you realize just how out of touch with reality they are. I mean king george doesn't even know the price of a gallon of milk or a gallon of gas, and mcsame mccaine doesn't even know how many houses he owns. The only thing these people know is money, and lots of it. They're grabbing all the resources they can before king george leaves office, but they'll squander the resources because doing the right thing isn't what's best for their bottom line, and the biggest victims are the folks who stand in their way by living near sources of coal or oil with little or no means of defending themselves. I guess I should be thankful there's nothing around me but trees. 'Course next thing you know the oil and coal tit will run dry, and they'll cut down all our trees...
