The Revolution has Begun - Spread the Word!

Hey, I meant to post last night but I've been so swamped lately.

Heat, we don't plan on creating anything that is attached to the government in any way. I do not recognize their laws forcing people to pay for land that they do not own. But you are right, it will be very difficult finding land, that is the only hard part so far in preparation. I think that once we get that out of the way, the rest will be easier and a little bit less stressful.

As for farming, I have experience in gardening/farming and raising crops. Not to brag, but I have a very green thumb. ^_^ We don't plan to use *any* machinery, *especially* those that run off of gasoline! That would defeat the purpose of the movement. The farming will get done because EVERYONE will have to pitch in and do their share of work. I don't plan on making animals do slave labor either, at least, not if a human(s) can do it just as well. We will hunt and farm, much like the native americans. There are still tribes on earth that live this way, so why can't we?

You are also correct when it comes to the water supply, it wont be easy finding clean viable water to drink, but we must and we will. As a matter of fact, that is all the more reason for us to do this sooner rather than later and to the fullest extent, not supporting those who putrefy the water and land. As for human waste, I've already thought of that. We will designate certain spots for doing just that, so that no one steps in it or comes across too much of it, we can also use some for fertilizer in the gardens (I know how to do this as well).

We're studying now and preparing, so that there will be those who are adapt in healthcare, herbal remedies and spiritual healing. As for schooling, we will teach what we know to the others. Again, much like the native americans.

You make some very valid points, but I don't feel that some of them will really apply to us, especially those dealing with government and taxation.

But this is great folks, let's keep us thinking, rubbing those brain cells together. If anyone has any other ideas or would like to add to what I've said, feel free to do so.

For the love of mike, our natives can not get land restored to them that should be and you think that a wandering band of people can? Feel your head.

You did not answer with any positive comments or plan exactly what you plan as far as this so called future community with regards to basic living necessities that I presented. Not one viable comment on how this community will be able to not only deal with it but to cope and survive. Vision, my ass. I gave you examples of what you will need to just house and feed and your answer is it will not apply. Shake your head. You want people to band up with you based upon exactly what.

You have not even presented how you will accomplish basic living let alone how you will hopefully with fairness govern this so called community. No machinery......oh lord love a duck. You are going to feed the masses within a short time frame without mechanical to break, plant and harvest. I will buy that and then propose if that is the case do you then intend to strap a plough to members backs or are you going to use animals. Animals also cost money and you are going to have to feed that hide until you get a crop. Holy, members can die from this but since you opted out then if they are in cardiac arrest you can not get help for them as you would not want to use the system....Reality check...if those animals have to be bought, do or will you have the funds. Will you also be able to have enough of them to break ground when you need to. Members may not really matter so I am going to discount the death.

Everyone pitching in to do their share is a given in a commune but reality is that man or beast can only work so hard until something gives....read health. I read another post by you on another board about cutting back on eating and what is consumed......read cult.
You can not work a person or beast like the dickens and not sustain it with enough nutrition to make the body run or you end up with Jones town.

Not all of us have the gift of gab but the message is the same.....some with far more than I have to offer and for the asking it is yours. Life is funny that way as if we go past the words and read the message it hits us where it should......after pride.

Heat, I'm sorry but I'm not going to entertain your questions or comments anymore since you want nothing but to stop us. I'm no fraud, but I wont waste anymore time trying to convince you. Hey Kevin, You wanted constructive suggestions so I thought I'd give you my 2 cents. I've been living in the boondox for about two years now. We have fruit trees, (peaches, pears, apples, persimmons) berries, (strawberries, blackberries, huckleberries, gooseberries, rasberries), not to mention the grapes...Lord we have the grapes here, but aside from all that we plant all kinds of vegetables. Sounds like eden, but to tell you the truth, it's damned impossible to make it here without some suppliments. I know I've posted before that I'm not tied to a job...well, that's not exactly the entire truth. I work from time to time as a carpenter, plumber, handiman etc...I only do it when the need arises, but it arises fairly often. My wife also works part time, so between the two of us, we're busting our butts most days. Here, and in the real world.
It was better for us last year, I had a tiller that I pieced together and was able to till up about an acre. Well, somebody stole it and I'm telling you that the doing it by hand thing sucks big time. I have a horse drawn plow, but haven't been able to borrow a plow horse and I can tell you...I sure as hell can't pull it. I'm 6' 195 lbs. and aside from dragging it backwards, I can't hardly move it. I've been doing the garden with a shovel and hoe...not fun. Not to mention that it went from an acre to about 15 x 40 ft
I've done all kinds of research as to where you can build what and who allows compost toilets and cisterns etc...so if you want, pm me and I'll share what I know.
Some of the other people on this forum have been living this dream too and they know from experience that when a crop fails...you go to the grocery store. we're all learning how to be as free from society as we can, but it takes time, practice and having your butt stomped in the mudd by your dream. I've almost given up several times.
I admire the vision that you have, but I'd suggest that you take a year or two and work the land. Raise animals and practice building natural shelters. There are several farms you could spend some time on to practise your skills. I always need help here (OPEN INVITE TO THOSE WHO KNOW WHAT A SHOVEL IS) Also, with regard to the community...It's really hard to find people who are willing to put the effort into it. Really really hard. If you look up one day and realize that you're the only one left...don't be suprised

I only asked about basic living. No one item I presented was not a valid point in a functioning commune. That was without going into the rank and file and how that would be organized...that I did not touch on as it is usually a bomb going off for most people as they are touchy about it.

Got near 60 years behind me - Was there in the days when it was much easier to "drop out of the system" - nobody ever made it stick - yes you can do it for a short period of time - but you are illegal as you procees- either by squatting on land that is not yours or by practices looked on as illegal (waste) -neventually the Man comes in and makes you move on if he's nice or locks your ass up if he's a prick.

I do realize kevin and changin times that most have not looked at what you are trying to do with much of an open mind - probably because most have more years and have been there and done that - or in some fashion tried it.

Baisically you are talking being homeless because unless you own the land or some one else does the front with the system to own it - Which to me is hypocritical to ask someone to do what you say you refuse to do ? - then you will be told to move on or be arrested.

Believe it or not this has been tried before.

Most of us older people have had our time of dreaming ans scheming to make it work - some of us still are Doing it - and as everyone is trying to tell you - it takes monumental effort and time - feels like you're working 3 jobs and at time going backwards
Any body who's been doing it will tell you about the constant 20 steps backwards - and you better be a good part jackass as you will need the stubborness - but at least one part of you better be logical so as to See what you have to face rather than bury your head inthe sand and say - that laws will not be enforced - esp. on people who many will look on as "ber do well/shiftless".

That said - the only way you will ever know what limits you must accept when trying to follow a dream is to DO IT - and so rather than tell you to give it up - I say go for it - the sooner the better and the more thought and foresight you put into it the better chance you will have - course that probably means listening and taking care of the challenges that people who still are Doingv it bring up and try to exprees to you - no matter how uncaring of who's feelings they hurt - they are still trying to help you See what we all have found out the hard way

But why would any one think that this "new" generation is going to be any less bullheaded than we were ? we had to find out for ourselves and the more people came down on us the more we thought that they just did not understand or were incapable of hearing what we had to say.
So damn let people learn their lessons - we did and no matter how much you try to tell kids what Is - they still have to find out for themselves.
