btw, i like folk/war type metal... my first love was 3 inches of blood and i like anything similar.... basically, as long as the there is falsetto, i am happy.

 

Incubus are my favourite band. My husband's kinda like you Enjoy he fucking loved Opeth unitl they went shit (in his eyes). The look on his face after listening to a recent album was priceless.

I don't believe their most recent album was shit. I think its got alot more of an empty sound to it, still quite amazing... when compared to say Still Life... its a bit of a downer though. Just the people who claim to "love" bands in general when they have only heard 1 song or 1 album... YOU DON'T LOVE THE BAND YOU LOVE 1 SONG!!.

I am far from a metal fan (metal of any sorts) BUT I can completely appreciate why someone would like it and the culture. And Pat summed it up perfectly with this.

This is how I feel about jam music. I like the counter culture and how they rely on touring and playing live music to make a living... The music is the people's and they allow people to share it openly... even supporting websites that allow people to do so. It's about the passion for music. There is nothing fake about it.

Why do people turn on bands if they become more popular? I'd understand it if their style in music changed like Incubus' did. But I don't get it on the whole.

 

I said why I don;t like them. And the fact they're becoming popular is because they are moving away from metal and appealing more towards the progressive crowd.

Typical opeth song:

clean guitar intro for like 3 minutes > distorted guitars with clean singing > insert growls > move into the chorus > play verse again > chrous > bridge > clean guitar with sad sounding feel to them > build up again > outtro

pretty much been hearing that for 4 albums now

 

I like having my own small piece which not many people knew about. Like Opeth back in the day, it was kind of special.. in the way when ever I mentioned it nobody would know who they are. I've always thought so highly of Opeth and still do. When they become more popular its weird... its not that I don't like the band. I just don't like what they have become
