Phil.... I feel your pain. Our band is about to fizzle out. 18 months and we havent left the garage. Cant seem to get the singer/guitard motivated. Thinking about moving on!

Lux, I didnt see you as bluesy. For some reason I had this Irish folksy thing in my head. Cranberries'ish. I love the blues....sometimes. Walking bass lines are cool, I wish I had an upright. However they do get a bit repetitive. Bet you can wail sista'!!!!

not sure who was playing sax in the 2nd, but in the 1st the guy playing electric violin is sorta well known for having studied animal sounds and nature sounds insteasd of music, and at the aquarium he was mic'd along with the whales, and hed play to them and theyd sing back with him it was pretty incredible

Damn that electric violin is hot!!!! I was thinking about picking it up. Since it is 4 strings is it similar to bass...like tuned the same??????

 

violin and bass are completly different.
violin is tuned, from high to low, EADG.
and its in treble cleff.
also no frets, its all just remembering how notes feel when u play them, like a trombone.
so intonation is always something that has to be worked on no matter who you are.
unless u play on a fretless bass that wouldnt be a problem switching to.

ive played violin/viola since 4th grade....

viola is different from violin.
its strings, from high to low, are ADGC.
its the only instrument in the alto cleff.
same strings as a cello, different cleffs tho.

bass is tuned EADG too... but that's low to high... i've tried playing cello and violin before. i totally failed

 

im a melodic percussionist all the way...well part of the way, nothing like beating on a drum every now and then

Okay Seth, ya lost me on the tuning.
bass is tuned e,a,d,g.....but low to high (e being the top string) so is it backwards on violin????????

Yeh Hankfreud, Swedish and Norwegian are so close. Danish too...but only when written...when spoken it sounds like someone trying to laugh whilst swallowing a really big hot potato without chewing it (Sorry any Danes that may be lurking here...but seriously, talk properly!!! lmao)
