I dont really like military/war history that much, I'm more interested in the culture surrounding war and how war influences civilian society. But the Vietnam War is pretty fascinating. Such a brutal war fought in an interesting geography

And I guess I feel connected to it because my dad fought in it and it screwed him up pretty royally

I love that kind of history a lot as well. In fact, for the longest time i was mostly interested in the lifes and mindsets of ordinary people, and therefor also folklore (as medieval sources rarely focus on ordinary people and their ordinary lifes, and their ordinary stuff didn't got preserved as much as the stuff of nobility or clergy).
