The Supreme Court endorses the personal right to own guns.

When the Supreme Court overrides something like the 2nd Amendment by saying that they are indivdual rights (rights granted by the state) rather than inalienable rights (rights you are born with). The two are completely different. Any constitutional scholar will tell you this.

Are you kidding me, Pavel? People had far more freedoms 30 years ago than they do today. That was before the Bill of Rights and Constitution was shredded. Today you can be deemed an "enemy combatant" just for saying the things I say. This means they can come into your house in the middle of the night without a warrant or even probable cause, you aren't subject to a trial, and you can be sent out of the country to be tortured and nobody will know where you are, if they even hear from you ever again.

MikeE - Read the Bill of Rights. Those are inalienable rights -- the right to free speech, the right to own a gun, the right to not have your property searched without a warrant, the right to a trial by your peers, the right to talk on the phone without the NSA listening in, etc.

At lead under the "Red Scare" people still had the right to a trial. Now they can simply say you're a domestic terrorist with no proof and no trial and lock you up forever.

What I was trying to ask is how does the supreme court have the power to decide something like that.

 

Because the Supreme Court is the highest court in the US and they answer directly to the real power brokers who run this country and are doing everything in their will to bring about an openly totalitarian system of government. Combine this with the fact that the average American doesn't care, is more concerned about football, and doesn't even know about what's going on unless the media tells them. They don't read books (and if they do it's fiction), and many of them are incapable of critically thinking for themselves. This is why we are where we are today.

where we are today is just as well off as where we once were. I'm very happy with my living arrangements, my life choices and the fact that i'm not a Gazelle that has to worry about being gobbled up by an alligator when i drink water or by a lion when i'm chewing down some grass.

What Anton Scalila was on about was that Washington DC is a federal territory not one of the 50 states. Federal Rule is absolute there.

Firearms ownership under The Constitution is a Federal right subject to the rule of the individual State where you reside.

That, The State of California could ban handguns and it would be OK because of State Sovrienigty.

 

while i agree with rat that it does circumvent the 2nd amendment,,i live in a state where i will never have to worry about my state putting undo restrictions on or taking gun ownership away so ill take the ruling as a victory of sorts..

I think anyone that wants to buy a gun should have to wait a minimum of one month.Preferably more.And it should be alot harder to get one.If the NRA had their way,you'd be able to buy a bazooka at Walmart.I also think countries like England (1 example of many) do fine,actually great with gun control. I have no problem with good people owning a gun,I have a big problem with the fact that any nutcase can get one so easily.And for people that compare owning a gun with issues like free speech etc.,thats a bunch of BS.

Gun's can be a problem o'course, but in the hypothetical situation that our Government proves to be nothing but repressing, the fighting People will
need them. Some Marxists theorist believe Americans have the capability of

You might check on the increase in firearms used in the commission of crimes in merry ole England. England, of course, has a different history than the United States despite our fortunate origin with their ideas of freedom. Likewise, England is running out of Englishmen, and as the population changes so will their cultural activities. Sad, Sad.

I think you are wrong about a "nutcase" getting a gun easily. If you purchased a gun, and the ATF catches you lying about your mental health on the form you must file you are in deep shit.

One hour, one day, one month, etc., what's the difference? You might as well opt for just banning them because sooner or later the individual you consider a person who ought not have a gun will get one, by hook or by crook. Do you really favor people owning guns?

Have you seen most relevant statistics about the use of guns, the relationship of gun ownership to crimes, how guns are acquired?

Well,Walmart would 'only sell bazookas if they were made in China.lol.I don't see how a longer waiting period and stricter regulations to get a gun would do any harm.As far as England goes,they are just one example.My point is many democratic nations do very well with gun control.Canada,most of Western Europe etc.--Australia is heading towards strict control of guns,and crime has dropped there.

 

All of the people arrested were somehow related to "terrorism" or whatever you might call it. They have no reason to target you, me, or anyone we know. That is unless you share secret love letters with Saudi Muslims....
