any relating or descending to David Hasselhoff. i say thats pretty fare. the world would be a better place.
What are you talking about "England is running out of Englishmen", would you like to qualify that staement with some evidence? And as our "culture" has been altering like most societies, for hundreds of years, I'm not quite sure what you are driving at with that other comment? IMO the rise in gun crime, is because 15-25 year olds (that is the age where the rise is apparently coming from) mimic AMERICAN "gun culture". Protecting their so-called "hoods" and all the other numerate amount of rubbish you can listen to and watch in AMERICAN movies/music. So, if you think or culture is being diluted with immigrants (which if you lived here you realise it is not). Then why don't YOU guys stop diluting OUR culture with YOUR "gun culture". Thanks.
I know if I were a police officer,I'd feel alot safer walking the streets in London than any American big city. And the same goes for citizens.
Don't give us that nonsense, Odon. The UK is no less of an entertainment-loving, fast food-gobbling nation of fat, degenerate slobs than the US is. From what I gather, the UK is even more obsessed with mindless entertainment than the US is. Just go to any UK news site like the Daily Mail and you'll see that it is loaded with mindless tabloid fluff about trashy whores like Amy Winehouse and Jade Goody. You people gobble up our filth culture, just like you gobble up your potato chips (crisps) and cheeseburgers. That's why Britons are becoming as fat as Americans. The reason for the high gun violence rates in US urban areas has a lot more to do than with just guns. These guns are also obtained illegally, and when gun laws are passed, it just makes guns easier for criminals to obtain (and cheaply) on the black market, while those who are law-abiding and responsible remain defenseless against such people.
Oh come on Rat, cheap shot much. Saying the daily mail represents Britain is like saying Stormfront represents America.
I agree: The UK is no less of an entertainment-loving, fast food-gobbling nation of fat, degenerate slobs than the US is. Maybe that part of our culture is being influenced by America. But Jade Goody and Amy Whinehouse do not go around popping off guns out the back of their cars, to kill their enemies, do they? I was not talking about that aspect of our culture. I was talking about your obsession for sorting out gang disputes with guns. Your "gang culture" which has a negative "gun culture". If you accept one part of your culture is influencing us, why is such a leap to think other parts of your culture is not an influence on ours? Check out the hundreds of videos on you tube, and see what our gangs look like and the way they act. http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk...ns-in-vile-gang-youtube-video-64375-19998751/ I accept that it is more than guns, but, our response to other issues, does seem to be influenced by the way you guys deal with other issues. Economically deprived, oh lets join a gang and start shooting people What a bloody great idea. Ever present in a lot of your films and everywhere in your rap music. That is being exported over here and is influencing our youth.
i find it curius that pepole who advocate gun restrictions are always saying or arguing from the perspective of thinking its about killing pepole! i am a convicted felon! i have a single shot 12 gauge shot gun, and a 22 semi atomatic! would like to acuier a 30/30 seeing it the most effective fire arm for my porpuse in this area! and that is to put food on my table! sure i could use a spear! but that is illegal, due to the suffering of the animal ! grow up move to the country with out a job, or income, and then come back and disscuss gun issuses! meanwhile dont eat meat from the market forget eggs, and when your pets dieying pay someone els to do your dirty work! and while your at it ban automobiles! i expect they kill more every year than guns! ohh im sorry they dont! its pepole that do that!
I was talking about your obsession for sorting out gang disputes with guns. Your "gang culture" which has a negative "gun culture". If you accept one part of your culture is influencing us, why is such a leap to think other parts of your culture is not an influence on ours? hmmm! and were did we get these ideas? i mean certainly amaricans must have come up with the ideas of supression, domination, subjigation, annexation, colinisation, eradicasation, ect........................... all on our own?
I think every private citizen should buy as many guns and ammo as they can afford, possibly use their tax rebates for such purposes. After all we are supposed to shop. Hell use your credit cards. Semi automatic would be my choice automatic if you can find them, and flack jackets to fit all. I am serious. Voting doesn't work. No one listens. So what does the individual have left? At least for the money you will have something that will protect yourself and your family, if you bought ample ammo, it won't become obsolete soon. Firearms seem to hold some resale value. Good investment all around.
Think of them as an investment. Probably not half as volatile a market as gasoline, real estate, or other commodities, and maybe some of them are still manufactured here. Buy American first. And buy a lot! I don't think this administration thought of that. Just as they didn't consider much about the Iraq war. Buy locally.
From 1960-73 poverty declined in the United States. The crime rate more than doubled. Why did that happen? I think it happened because liberal judges appointed by Democrats made punishment less likely and less severe. In The Bell Curve Charles Murray argued that men with low IQs are tempted by violent crime because it is the only way they can get much money. Several factors influence the crime rate. One is the liklihood and severity of punishment. Another, admitedly, is poverty. During the Clinton years crime declined. One of the reasons is the fact that President Clinton sighed the Omnibus Crime Bill of 1994. Another reason is the fact that he orchestrated an economy of low inflation and declining unemployment. It became possible to get a reasononably good job without a sky high IQ and a fancy degree. Under George the Lesser it is no longer possible. That is why the crime rate has increased during the past two years.
Voting does too work. If no listens to you it is probably because you are too far from the political center. One does not get places in politics by changing person's minds. One gets places by articulating and channeling sentiments that already exist.
This is always has been a controversial issue. The problem is extremism as it is with so many other political issues in the US. I'm not saying guns should be banned,(and don't worry they never will be in the US.I just think that groups like the NRA have gone waaaay too far.Again for example, I do not see what harm waiting a month or so to get a gun would do.
Waiting a month or so for what exactly? So our "humble" civil servants can approve us to be "deserving" of exercising our Constitutional rights? "Excuse me Mr. psycho stalker, can you please obey the judge's court order to stay at least 300 feet away from me for the next month or so, until I can get the local authorities to tunnel through the red tape in order for me to purchase a firearm to defend myself from you?" Sure. Now, don't misunderstand, I do not take an absolutist view on this because just as with things like alcohol and tobacco I think that we should ensure that there is some sort of screening process for people who wish to buy a firearm (a one day wait may not be such a bad thing, but once again my point from before should weighed as well). As such, I agree with finding more money in government to unify and build up the background check network to ensure that people with questionable mental histories are not allowed to purchase firearms without a hearing to assess who they are and their mental state. On the other side of the legislative debate I think that more people in public areas (law abiding, qualified gun owners) should feel free from prosecution enough to conceal and carry in order to reduce the possibility of casualties in a felony armed action. Placing restrictions on rights like the 2nd amendment have proven to be a slippery slope since I believe history has shown us that those who seek absolute power to the detriment of the people have consistently sought to restrict a man/woman's right to defend themselves. WE are supposed to be the militia mentioned in the Constitution. Take it from JFK: “Today, we need a nation of Minutemen, citizens who are not only prepared to take arms, but citizens who regard the preservation of freedom as the basic purpose of their daily life and who are willing to consciously work and sacrifice for that freedom.” - John F. Kennedy Here is another good one from Alan Eppers: “Dangerous laws created by well intentioned people today can be used by dangerous people with evil intentions tomorrow.” God bless Guns are not evil....evil resides in the hearts of the ill intentioned.
