If you look around at old threads, you can find many examples of me doing exactly that.

As we have always had and we had a few good conversations, yet you defriended me because I have a different opinion.

Core values. Not the same thing as an opinion. Deeper level.

I've had several people take me off their lists over the years, almost always over politics or religion. I can live with that. It happens.

Conversations about politics and religion almost always run the risk of offending or alienating someone. That's why it used to be almost taboo in Southern culture to bring up those subjects.

Ok core values as me and my friend of 20 years have yet he is my good friend. I understand that some people just don't mesh well, but you should not throw someone away for different values. Mary Matalin a Republican political stragist is married to James Carville who is a Dem stragist.

I see the differences in people as a good thing and don't discard them.

People are only offended if they want to be offended.

I think for myself and I also think of others and how black people are still at a strong disadvantage in this country and that justice Thomas hasn't ever done anything that would benefit them instead he sides with his white colleagues and tries to remove certain benefits put in place to try and give blacks equal footing with whites. He voted to get rid of affirmative action which is ridiculous he must not have paid much attention in his history classes.

It's a sad thing when someone reaches a height and forgets the bottom they crawled out of and doesn't look back at those waiting for him to give them a helping hand like the many he himself has received.

I am glad you cleared that up rather then just resort to the "uncletom" smear.

He is a constitutionalist and makes rulings based on that. His AA decision was right on. Do you want the best person for the job or just someone to fill a quota? That is racist to fill a quota based on skin color. It's saying that because we know that blacks are unequal we have to hire you.

It seems like many black men who are republican get based for being one for no real good reason. They work hard and don't want a hand out. Dr.Ben Carson, Lynn Swann, J.C Watts, Herman Cain, Clarence Thomas, Dr. Rice and others

And? I am not offended by the comments they made but to call a Supreme Ct Justice an uncletom is sickening.

They won't be in the position to apply for the job without affirmative action only a small and shrinking group of blacks who have already been through the affirmative action system will have a foot hold making it an increasingly white dominated job market. It is foolish to assume that things will just work out and that black people will be able to just get by on merit alone when they are trapped in communities where they do not receive proper education and influence. These conditions are just going to get worse as there are less and less successful black people supporting them.

It's easy to say you don't want a hand out after you have already had so many.

I have had no hand outs. I have worked for everything I have in my life. Being white does not give me a hand out.

Trapped in communities...maybe it's time to start working on the family dynamic and structure. So you don't have kids growing up in 1 parent households. Maybe it's time to take responsibilities for actions instead of placing the blame on others. 68% of black women who gave birth in 2012 were unwed. Do you blame society for that or blame the mothers for that? You start with a good family structure with good influences then you can have good children who can aspire to be great.

Your statements aren't based in reality they are basted on your personal beliefs and feelings. A family dynamic cannot exist in a world without equal opportunity. We live in a world where only a relatively short time ago black people with good jobs and money saved were not allowed to move into better communities were not allowed to work jobs they were qualified for because they were black. This has had a strong and lasting effect that can only be over come with help from others and a little extra nudge.

Also u say to blame the mothers as if the men have no fault in the matter which is ridiculous.

It was an easy source to learn about his life. But I can find something else if you wish?

No I don't blame just the mothers but the fathers also as it takes 2.

It's a societal issue not and individual issue which means it can't be left up to personal responsibility alone.

No it takes others that can try to help, yet when black republicans talk abotu family isues in the black community they get blasted. What more do you want done? How can I change the family issue in the black community? I can't only people who are in that situation can. We as a society have no way to make those 68% not have children.

What we do is set into place programs like affirmative action to help black people overcome adversity and become more economically sound and better educated. This allows for people to be in situations where they can make better decisions because they have better and more options.

You can talk about the importance of family all day long it won't do anything to help anyone we need to actually do things to help nurture the family unit so that it can become strong

So America has to set up racist policies? Telling GM that they have to hire 50% black people is not going to do anything for the community or GM. Instilling a good education and work ethic into kids when they are 5+ years old will pay in the long run. Bad choices are made because of what is seen and learned.
