I'm goin to the protest in New York.... It seems times are going in a cirlce, or lets say a "cylce" The mentality of the 50s was that Suburban America was LIFE and moms would stay home and iron. Girls were to grow up, marry rich and become baby machines. The men were the dominating force. Every thing was just "peachy." But their kids were sick of living such a dull way, of their lives being dictated and not being able to amount to anything but what their parents were. They wanted to free themselves of the perfect relaxer being vaccuming your pristine living room, and if you're lucky your "rompus room" as well. They started a revolution it seems (I know all this because of Hippie friends from this era born circa. 1945) revolting against "the American dream" being rebels. Rock and Roll started coming to, the times really were changing. Along came a war, something to fight for. The Hippie movement was strong, and LOUD! Eventually it died out, lasted well into the 1970s, but hey, these young revolutioners got older. Their message grew weaker...but they had made a difference. Instead of forcing the world to follow "serenity" of all the males working 9 to 5's at companies and the wolmenfolk at home sewing, people actually did things. Women obtained more respect, the thought of living a life without marraige and childeren was no longer a sin, there were people out there who's eyes were open. It was a changed world. Here comes the cycle part. Now around the late 1990's, It became ideal to be the perfect suburban family again, will the colonial, 3 kids, stay at home "soccer-mom" a mini-van, and the husband the works from now 7-11 (as opposed to the normal (9-5). Women are once again becoming objects, but now more like sex-objects with photos of women half-naked plastered on every building, there are at least 6 in every magazine, and television comercials with dainty women prancing about in their underpants. We've even got a war. So it seems high time for our second coming of the Hippie movement, and afterward when are dying down, we'll be getting ready for the thrid time around. The times do seem to be changing, and those crazy teens of the 60s had the zeal to go out and do all of this. And thats what we need. Instead of talking about crazy protests we should do it...more marches down aves and through parks, more burning of bras and chaining onto trees. Clearly by the audasity of people who go on to this website we can start a revolution. We just have to learn to get organized and come together... Thank you for that.
here here... good points, and yeah the evidence is there even if you haven't got the old hippie friends you talk of. Maybe we can sometimes see what we want though, but I think you have a clear point and I agree with some hesitation, sooner or later.. etc. Time and actions will tell.
There is a storm brewing. Has anyone else noticed this? It's as though history has already repeated itself. I commend you for your grammar. Well, actually I don't. The protesters in the 60's wanted peace, and ironically, you want just the opposite of peace. You shouldn't pray for protests, but for the solution of a cause you follow.
Yeah, artsyfreak45. when the time is right, we get out there, and we make a difference. Now is the time! The large protests and movements are inevitable and it is up to us what they will be like, those who want peace should make a strong stand. When the elites will begin to defend their privileges, they won't be gentle and conflicts are likely. A peaceful movement must be srtong and with a strong sense of purpose. Because when times get dark enough, they will not all be hippies demonstrating.
We already have. How soon we forget that the Republican National Convention last year was the most heavily protested convention in history. And yet the dumbass got re-elected anyway. There is a large counter-culture opposing the current government and its polices, but there is also a large counter-counter-culture supporting it. Maybe these flag-wavers would feel less patriotic if the draft were re-instated or Dubya started another war. As it is, if these insurgent attacks in Iraq continue with no end in sight then perhaps more and more people in the red states will start to feel a little blue.
Let's relive the hippie movement . I think it's time more than ever for peace . Let's start the revolution now, i'll be part of it
Well, I doubt we will have to wait long for another war from the Bush camp... infact are we not on the verge of 'many' most of the time, I don't think the bookies would give us very profitable odds! The three J's are pushng us from within the wind, the time has come again, wake-up they cry!
The perfection of a balanced nonpefection is indeed perfection itself, as perfection comes from inspired actions and inspiration fades in stagnation... I'm in a strange mood ignore me. I haven't thought about the above statement enough so I may come back to it, so you may have to ignore me some more at another moment that has no doubt already passed, as has everything... we are but dead and alive and nothing at all, everything is here and nothing is there and all is nowhere... maybe we can make our bed more cosy for our return, will we remember, does it matter, will anybody ever find the light switch? ramble ramble, I can't help but ramble in my nonsense like dispare... hmmm
Come gather 'round people Wherever you roam And admit that the waters Around you have grown And accept it that soon You'll be drenched to the bone. If your time to you Is worth savin' Then you better start swimmin' Or you'll sink like a stone For the times they are a-changin'. Come writers and critics Who prophesize with your pen And keep your eyes wide The chance won't come again And don't speak too soon For the wheel's still in spin And there's no tellin' who That it's namin'. For the loser now Will be later to win For the times they are a-changin'. Come senators, congressmen Please heed the call Don't stand in the doorway Don't block up the hall For he that gets hurt Will be he who has stalled There's a battle outside And it is ragin'. It'll soon shake your windows And rattle your walls For the times they are a-changin'. Come mothers and fathers Throughout the land And don't criticize What you can't understand Your sons and your daughters Are beyond your command Your old road is Rapidly agin'. Please get out of the new one If you can't lend your hand For the times they are a-changin'. The line it is drawn The curse it is cast The slow one now Will later be fast As the present now Will later be past The order is Rapidly fadin'. And the first one now Will later be last For the times they are a-changin'.
in Germany they want to make study-fees now. the students demonstrate a little bit... but in the 60`s the German students would have never allowed such things made by the state. it is sad, that the new gereation has such a mentality
I do what I can. Not many protests around here, but I try t go when there are. And if there aren't I ride around the grocery store in a shopping cart wearing tie-dye and a two foot tall hat saying "Peace, dude!" to everyone I pass. I've really done that, honest to God.
I agree most definitley. The hippie 2nd coming is NOW. I don't mean 2 years from now,....i mean this year! We gotta do SOMETHING. We gotta get organized and "come together" I truly and desperatley want to see more protests as they were in the 60's. ARE WE GONNA LET BUSH FUCK UP OUR COUNTRY EVEN MORE??? My question is how??? I wanna change the world with my fellow hippies. But we NEED to find away. Does n e 1 know of ne protests going on in Florida tomorrow? KEEP ME POSTED. If we want the revolution to happen we gotta give it a push! I wanna be apart of it...don't u?
At school it seems like a select few ar starting to be more for peace... In my area for the last few years you we a prep or a goth.. I wasn't either and now more people are starting to come out of their shell and see what is wrong with our world... This is probably the strongest it has been in 10-15 maybe 20 years... If we can organize a movement it is possible we can change things...
