http://www.socialistunitynetwork.co.uk/reports/trafalgarcamp.htm Well, follow the link above for a sign of the times that is changing, I didn't make the first few days of the above event but will catch the end of it this morning and will be part of the protest march through London at midday today... whats happening near you? this is an international day for protesting against the wars of the middle east present and future and all else that is incorporated in to these issues... join the cause, it's happening around you, now!
Who cares about protests or movements? Go out on the street and tell a stranger that you love them, that they can achive peace through love, and that violence only begets violence. There, you did it. Now keep doing it.
Hmmmm, maybe that person will be the Manager of Barclays Bank, or Pepsi, Coco cola Mac donalds or some other company that invests there money in Murder and greed... Don't protest??? If wasn't for protests we wouldn't have any freedom today, we wouldn't have any rights, and you wouldn't have the time free in the day to afford or be allowed to use suh a tool as the internet in the first place, unless of course you were among the powerful/rich minority.... wake the fuck up will you.
I was refering to these people who wait for someone else to organize a protest and tell them where it is. Protests don't matter. Without an internal revolution, nothing on a large scale can happen.
Hey you young kids......YES you can change the times. We did but it took a whole lot of us to accomplish it and a long time to do it but it's not impossible. A protest starts with one person with an idea or concern and the rest will fall into place.
What we need is some large world power or corporation (was that redundant?) representing hippies to come into existance and lead and unite everyone to help achieve big goals.
"What we need is some large world power or corporation (was that redundant?) representing hippies to come into existance and lead and unite everyone to help achieve big goals" That would be nice and all, but anyone following "hippy" ideals would pretty much be a rotten, stinking pile of hypocrisy if he owned a corporation or became a world power. If there were a single word for "hippy corporation", it would be an oxymoron.
Unfortunately that's true, but it's the best idea I can think of. We've tried having summer of love ressurections over and over, and it's never worked. If there were to be some leader, something to unite us, creating one basic source where we could all be connected. With something like that, it wouldn't be hard to have a big revolution like the summer of love.
well... keep ourselves informed, keep debating, keep protesting, there is many a potential leader out there, if you go to the protests you will be aware that there are many well informed experienced speakers at these events... knowledge is power, it can be anyone of us if that's what we seek... I am trying to get my act together as I have been too slack despite my interest in current affairs. The more we read and understand and the more we protest against the ill's of our societies the more we will see the possibilites, the more we can find our own direction and the more we can influence issues and others... http://www.handsoffvenezuela.org/
I think protests are one of the last resorts. They are difficult to manage and you are mostly just making noise to people that are very good at not listening. It starts at home...with your friends and family.Work at creating community, looking out for each other.Form working groups..learn how to get along, compromise, comunicate. You have to find ways to get the circle to form, taking care of yourself then others near, and finally to reach further. I would like to see neighborhoods that aren't too far gone, taken over by artists and bohemians.Get all of the group there to self-improve get good jobs and form businesses that are good for the community while supporting itself and the rest. Then use those recources to draw in others for tha concets on Saturday night,or the drumming circles,or other programmes.Offer art classes to outside kids and make the neihborhood a showplace of what the world could be like. Reduce the machinery.live well.Grow. Make yourselves such an asset to the the larger city that they can't crash you without costing them more than it's worth, then push for change.Paint houses, help the older people, educate.Push it out.We could take over the world by showing a better way,not shouting at other to change...Be change.Live it.
^ That's the best post I have read on here, a clearly good and experienced perspective... I feel educated for reading it, I shall embrace and absorb what you have said into my whole and watch to see how it filters out into my actions... or I could have just said "yeah, I agree!" instead of such overt flattery... somewhere inbetween I think
