The True Meaning of Christmas

If you don’t mind I’d like to go back to the original title of this tread; the true meaning of Christmas. Christmas is not celebrated by anyone who really follows Bible teachings. You might be surprised to learn that Christmas was not instituted by Jesus Christ nor was it celebrated by him or his first-century disciples. In fact, there is no record of a Christmas celebration until 300 years after Christ died. Christmas is not an “innocent” Holiday in fact it is the pagan holiday the Saturnalia. Do you suppose if Jesus was alive on the earth today he would celebrate Christmas? Jesus who was called the Truth would definitely ask; why do you celebrate this on Dec 25 when a simple reading of the Bible shows that I was more likely born in Oct.? Then he would probably ask; Why this tree? Why holly? Why mistletoe? Why a Yule log? And who is this Santa Claus? Then might ask why these presents? And you might answer; they picture the gifts the wise men brought. And Jesus would say; but don’t you know that the wise men weren’t at my birth but showed up almost two years later? And why do you call them wise men when they were mere star gazers, astrologists, condemned by God? And why do you make them more predominate in this than the poor shepherds that were actually called by God to witness my birth? Then Jesus might ask; who told to celebrate these things because I didn’t and neither did my disciples? Is the Truth not good enough for you? Then Jesus would probably say; these things are all Lies, and come from the father of the lie Satan the Devil! Get away from them my people!
