Thats the old Soviet doctrine and now Russian .

They encircle a town, cut off all food supplies going in and take out all of the energy and water supplies . This heaps lots of pressure on the fighting defenders and with the constant shelling ,the Russians hope to break the will of the inhabitants civilian and military .

Theses tactics hark back to Roman times when they used to besiege a fort .

I think its just a matter of time before the Capital falls .

The Mig 29s form Poland could have helped the situation here as they could have been retrofitted with ground attack weapons Still a fine line IMO as to what is described as defensive or offensive weapons . There is an argument the word "Anti" is the definition ie Anti tank weapons ,anti aircraft weapons etc.

The US will not allow the Migs to go to Ukraine.

A Military base near the Polish border has been attacked , It was used by Nato instructors to train the Ukrainian military . Its been hit reportedly by around 30 missiles . Its a a very large base and se elements will still be functioning .35 casualties have been reported by Ukrainian sources .

I am wondering if Putin is finding out how much he can get away with before the West responds .
IMO ,The West should supply the Polish Migs without further delay . That would be a measured response and a message as not to mess with the West.
