Just a note to you guys who post on this thread and a thank you from me .

Once the conflict has finished whenever that will be , I will be locking the thread . I will allow an amnesty once the conflict is finished to give you chance to post your final thoughts etc. I will be locking it to prevent irrelevant chit chat which will spoil the thread after its conclusion

I will then transfer it to the History Section and PIn it . It can then serve has a reference piece for the future .

 

How to use chemical weapons without using "chemical weapons"....

 

The Russian military appear to be concentrating their efforts on Mariupol .

I dont understand 2 things .

1) From a military point of view it is preferable for citizens to move away from any conflict as they would get in the way . I dont understand why the Russians do not allow citizens to leave ? I can only think that they want them as targets in the hope that the Ukrainian Government would concede .

2) The City is basically a pile of rubble and there are probably very few defenders left . So just bypass it !

 

I'm pretty sure this is Russian tactics... (or at least Putin's tactics, but he didn't invent them)

 

Not normally .Even Stalingrad was devoid of citizens .

Sometimes they do get in the way but not intentionally targeted . This to me is a step towards the dark side of war .
Also thats why many countries use weapons that can be guided so as to leave residential buildings well alone,.Russia has them and used them, but in smaller numbers and chooses to use unguided weapons that cause the damage to civilian areas .

Dutch seize 14 Russian yachts; US to announce tougher sanctions

Finance minister Wopke Hoekstra said 12 yachts are under construction and two are undergoing maintenance. The boats will not be allowed to leave the country because of the export ban and sanctions imposed on hundreds of wealthy supporters of Russian President Vladimir Putin. The Netherlands has been criticized for its slow start to enforcing sanctions.

The U.S. government on Monday seized a 254-foot yacht in Spain owned by an oligarch with close ties to Putin. Other countries also have seized the luxury boats.

What should Russia do with Ukraine? [Translation of a propaganda article by a Russian journalist]

 

Putler's petty revenge for not getting things his way. The Rus military is now getting their shit pushed in everywhere that isn't Donetsk, Luhansk, or Mariupol. This is Putin retaliating the humiliation, same as the Bucha mass murders. If he can't have it, he'll burn it down.

 

There have been of few developments on the Arms front this morning UK time . One being huge of which I am concerned about.

The UK has been touted according to various reports in providing 2 types of vehicles . I think these will be instead of the Snatch Land Rovers as mentioned a week or so ago .These were last used extensively by British Troops stationed in Afghanistan .

The nature of these vehicles I dont think will be of great concern to the Russians as they are really transports .

The First vehicle is the Jackal



The Jackal is a high-mobility weapons platform patrol and reconnaissance vehicle produced by Supacat of Honiton UK .These will obviously be used for scouting duties ahead of the main forces and designed to survive antivehicle mines . Very useful for the Ukraine forces now going more on the offensive .

The second vehicle is the Mastiff


This is basically an armoured truck which can be used to carry a squad of troops and/or supplies . Again like the Jackal can sustain going over a mine . This again is a UK produced vehicle and reminds me of the armoured 6x6 trucks as used by the US in Vietnam . Again a useful vehicle for going on the offensive .

 

Now this is the bit of news that does concern me a little . The Czech Republic bless them are supplying the Ukraine with a number of T72 tanks and BMP1 Infantry Fighting Vehicles ( IFV) . The news itself isnt concerning as I am convinced Poland has been supply T72 tanks for some time but in secrecy and piecemeal numbers . What concerns me is how open this has been as regards reporting and supported by pictures as below . This information wasnt difficult to find and therefore not going to be difficult for the Russians to find either ! I dont know how they will react to this .

Ukraine Shot Down One of Russia’s Most Advanced Fighter Jets

Russia’s war in Ukraine is not going well, and this week brought even more bad news for Moscow: the loss of one of the country’s most advanced fighter jets. Ukraine’s military shared photos on social media showing the wreckage of an Su-35S multi-role fighter jet, the first lost in the war. Ukraine’s aging air defense network allegedly shot down the fighter, often characterized as a fifth-generation fighter.

 

If this was so... it exceeds all tolerable limits.
