This conflict as very much stagnated with both sides making very little progress as far as I can see . It is slowly turning into a Korean situation and maybe that could be a way to end this conflict . The forces Putin is likely to be mobilising will be equipped in parts with obsolete equipment and unsuitable for an offensive. The Ukrainian military do not have the man power or woman power to sustain a counter offensive on a wide front.

Perhaps Putin has in mind a war of attrition. Keep throwing his forces at Ukraine as cannon fodder until the Ukrainian forces are too devastated to resist. He'll lose many thousands of troops doing so, but that's okay as long as he wins. He may likely end up assassinated, but hey, he won!

There is a Military term for that

    Definition of Pyrrhic victory
a victory or goal achieved at too great a cost.

Thousands of draft-aged men have fled russia over the course of this weekend, as the noose tightens around them. Starting September the 28th, all men who are eligible to be drafted are banned from leaving the russian federation territories, unless they're in possession of a special exit visa, which only the military higher-ups may grant. Meanwhile, exit routes from the country are getting fewer and fewer, as Finland, a popular escape route for those living in the russian west is preparing to introduce tighter visa requirements for entry to russian nationals, possibly as early as this week. A russian tourist visa would no longer grant entry to Finnish territories, and only students, asylum seekers and people with existing family in Finland would be considered.

At the same time the unpopular draft continues, despite increasing opposition. Despite putin's promises, unfit men like the elderly, and men with no service history and no training or experience in the military are being forcefully recruited, even directly from the streets, possibly just to meet quotas to please putin. The target could be to hire as many as 1,2 million men, but right now it's looking like even the optimistic 300,000 may not be reached due to popular backlash, now that even folks in the big russian cities are starting to wake up to the smell of putin's shit.

It's going to be interesting to see, if putler's regime will even survive this coming winter. What's certain is that he's clearly getting desperate. There are reports coming from the russian Dagestan that people are now openly revolting against the forced draft. Draftees are turning to hard drinking, and recruitment offices have been arsoned in places like St. Petersburgh, Nizhny Novgorod, Khabarovsk and Amur.

Well THIS is now starting to look VERY worrying indeed!..

US Warns Russia of ‘Catastrophic Consequences’ If It Launches Nuclear Attack in Ukraine

    WASHINGTON —

The U.S. has warned Russia of “catastrophic consequences” if it launches a nuclear attack on Ukraine, President Joe Biden’s national security adviser, Jake Sullivan, said Sunday.

Sullivan, speaking on ABC’s “This Week” show, said U.S. officials have told Russian officials privately that Biden “will respond decisively” if Russian President Vladimir Putin orders a nuclear strike but did not say how the U.S. would respond.

Sullivan said the U.S. would “not engage in a game of rhetorical tit-for-tat” with Russia.

But Sullivan, in a separate interview, told NBC’s “Meet the Press” show that “Russia understands very well what the United States would do in response to the use of nuclear weapons in Ukraine because we have spelled it out for them.”

The U.S. response came after Putin signaled the possibility of a nuclear attack last week as he called up 300,000 military reservists to help fight in its seven-month invasion of Ukraine.
The troop augmentation came after Russian battlefield setbacks, with Kyiv’s forces recapturing large swaths of territory in northeast Ukraine that Russia had seized in the early weeks of the war.

Widespread protests against Putin’s troop call-up have erupted in Russia, with police arresting hundreds of demonstrators participating in street protests in Moscow and elsewhere.

Hmmm....if certain occupied regions of Ukraine vote to join Russia, and the Ukrainian government allows it, could that bring an end to the war? It would be a way out while Putin doesn't "lose face" regarding the invasion, he could claim it was what he wanted all along. Ukraine might want to consider it before every building in the country is leveled.

Hard to say. The election would have to be thoroughly monitored by the UN.

Some of you guys are all wound up over Putin's idle threats . Its not going to happen . A lot of it is spin from Western Media outlets for sensationalist headlines and Putins feeble attempts at trying to divide the West to strengthen his hand. A nuclear weapon has never been used in anger since 1945 and there is a reason for that. Until then no one had any idea of the devastation they cause. Even the use of a tactical nuclear weapon would render certain areas as a no go area. Not very good tactically if your suppose to be driving forward and attempting to liberate a country .
