i don't need an excuse, i have no problem defying the weather and staying indoors if that's what i want to do. but this was one of the most pleasant weather christmases i've seen, so i took a 4 mile walk with my mom at 55 degrees, and it was one of the best christmas afternoons i've had. like most days, i think it's more about what you do and who you do it with than fitting into some sort holiday mold.
Yesterday with an actual temperature of 5.4°C and wind speed being 17 km per hour, windchill was 2°C in the university area when I was there (elevation: 420 metres). It is the lowest windchill I experience this winter so far.
i don't currently have anything to measure either wind or temperature with. (did once upon a time, not too many years ago) we've had freezing days and we've had warm wet ones, several days so overcast it never looked entirely like day time, without any any actual precipitation. we did get just enough snow to paint the ground, almost a month ago. but that's the way its been going since. kind of randomly back and forth. each day a little different. been meaning to go out and take a little walk in it, without feeling any particular urgency about doing so. been out to go to the store of course, about once a week or less. trouble is, most of the time i'm awake has been the middle of the night, because that's almost the only time i get enough bandwidth on the local wifi, to get anything done on the net.
At 2 am, +4.3°C in the city center and -6.1°C in the ski resort. Ski Resort is only 30 km away from the city center and elevation difference is 1300 metres.
I live 4 km away from the city center. My thermometer shows +3.7°C The elevation is the same as the city center.
-3°C (26.6 Fah) + wind. After a warm period that melted our snow, we've had some new snow today. Nice, fully stuff. I just had to go and walk barefoot on it. So fluffy, fresh snow and dead grass underneath. But also, so tingly after a 10 minute session, when I returned inside and the bloodflow really kicked in. Felt itchy as hell. Serves me right, I guess...
