In the midst of what the old-timers used to refer to as a January thaw with temps around 50 F and expected to reach the mid 60s by Saturday afternoon
Global warming is the likely suspect. It's almost warm enough to go to the beach, the only problem is the ocean temps are in the upper 30s and low 40s and hypothermia would soon set in...lol...

18*C today here in ballarat. First really chilly Autumn type of weather here after a massive thunderstorm last night that had little to no rain.
I'm enjoying a mild winter. I got to walk around in my flimsy coat through the cool air this morning. I appreciate it. But alas. I know winter can be miserable. You've mostly all heard me drone on about the winter in north Idaho up near Canada. It's cold like what @Grandeur is describing (if those temps are in Fahrenheit. Oh woops - they are Celsius...). In Idaho during the winter of 1994 or 1995 it was something like 20 below a few times. Not for the faint of heart...
This winter, I didnt go to Eastern Turkey. I stayed in my sea coast mild city. The reasons are... First, I spent too much money these days, I dont wanna spend further money. Second, I am bored of travelling alone, going out of the city alone as I have some friends here. I dont wanna be alone as I am already very depressed these days. It was -2°C in the morning with clear sky right where my home is (morning low in the city center was warmer). At clear nights, temperature differences in close distances occur at the same elevation. Last winter, I was in Eastern Turkey. I walked out at -30°C, which was fun.
-2 C... I think that's slightly below freezing! Very cold for me. I am much more used to 65 F (which is 18.3 C). I am such a wuss when it comes to cold temperature!
I experienced minus 30°C. Minus 2°C is pretty warm to me but the city I live in doesnt get cold unfortunately
Where I go is like 525 km away from the center of earth quake. I really doubt if I even would feel anything.
