I think you did great in standing up for what you believe in. For me, it is almost hard to imagine them talking to young kids in such a rude way, but seeing as they are the army recruiters, I am less surprised. They keep calling my house. They have been calling since I was 16. My college was forced to give them my number, and ever since, I have been bombarded in phone calls. My parents have answered a couple of times and told them I am not interested (they know I am very anti-war), but they refuse to get the point. The last time they called, I was furious. They wanted to know what my plans were after school and how my grades were currently, and frankly, it is none of their business! The next time they call, they are getting an earful. I wish there was a way to get these people for harrassment.
They used to call my house asking for my older sister. After a while, my mom started telling them stuff like "She can't come to the phone right now - she's at an anti-war rally." lol. My mom and I used to have a lot of fun thinking of stuff like that to say when the recruiters called. I think that in the U.S., there's a thing you can sign and turn into your school telling them not to give out your information to military recruiters (that's how recruiters get your info.). ...one time, a recruiter called me, and asked me if any of my friends might be interested in the military. That really upset me, that she was asking me to turn my friends over to her, so she could recruit them to murder and to be murdered in senseless wars. Lol, she made me so nervous, I couldn't get out any complete/coherent sentences... I'm pretty sure they didn't call back after that, haha.
