There is god somewhere, I think that god is energy and that our soul is energy and I've felt it so I know. How can anyone beleive in peace, love and harmony if there isn't god? Than why does good and evil exsist???

these "god is fake" boards are an utter waste of time, they should just be closed as soon as they start up because the argument is futile, people choose to believe in God based on their personal sensory experience. just like how you choose to believe anything else based on your experiences, and you can never experience what others do so for you to say that God is not real is your opinion which is based on your minute perspective is ignorant. for me to say God exists is also a reflection of my narrow sensory experience, but I choose to do so and you may not choose to do so its all a leap of faith...

I agree, with the exception that, if some one came up with a philosophical argument better then "God doesn't exist because you can't prove he does.".

There is also the conundrum that people have VERY different ideas of what exactly is God. These ideas can mostly be catagorized into either 'Sky Daddy' Or 'Eternal energy' however still there are other ideas of God and even within these broad catagories there are very differing views.

It really is a pitty that there aren't enough 'Philosophical minds' or 'logical minds' to discuss these subjects with any intelligent arguments wether it be for or against. It is obvious that most of the arguments put forward (yes including the Athiests who just love to boast about their lord and saviour logic and their God reality.) are based almost entirely on emotional ideas rather then deep thought and understanding. This is probably to do with people having very negative or very positive experiances with spirtuality/religion. Either way this is just becoming silly

I agree. There have been some really thoughtful exchanges on the subject of God's nature and existence on the Atheist/Agnostic Forum and some of the threads on this one, but there has been a tendency on both to make dogmatic pronouncements, use insulting language, and play games with the burden of proof. In particular, people who hold a position based largely on unshakable faith, be it in atheism or some religious creed, instead of logic and evidence, can't contribute much to a discussion except to say "This is what I believe and I'm sure I'm right & you can't prove me wrong." They may be right, but it's unlikely that however often they assert their position or how many cuss words they use to put down the opposition, anybody else is going to be persuaded.

In my opinion god is positive energy, and love is the only thing that make us positive. The devil is the negative energiy, anger is the only thing that make us negative. All other feelings are based on this two, positive on love negative on anger. Not beliveing in god is not beliveing in yourself, because we do have our aura and it's existence is proved and logic acording to me.Energy can not be created or destroid. So reincarnation can be logicly proved. I'll advice you to do good and to love (not in the erotic since but in the spiritual since) and not to be evil and not to feel negative emotions. About the god's existence we shoul not argue because doesn't matter we'll see when we'll die nw we should try to change the world and we should do it before is too late.

heve love, peace and harmony in your soul

Fear is the source of all negativity. If you aren't scared, you have no reason to be mad. Depression, hate, envy... etc etc... all because people are scared. Scared of the unknown, without the basic human curiosity of the unkown... its a vicious cycle thats been passed down now for thousands of years.

YES!!!! The perfect argument for reincarnation... energy *cannot* be destroyed, it can only change forms. There is no death, only change. As long as people beleive in an "afterlife" they will neglect their responsibility to THIS world, which is THE ONLY life! We aren't here by mistake... this world is not "god's folly"... if you really think about it, it all makes sense.

Life is supposed to be a "test"... what is the answer to this test? What is the result of a well done test? The test is your responsibility to the world... do you assume this responsibility, or shirk it in favor of getting a new pair of jordan's? By working to support a government that does NOT serve peace and love... and without involving yourself in making things better... you are condemning yourself to "hell".

The idea is... you make the world a better place, and when you reincarnate you will literally be born into a better place. Even if you assume it to be entirely wrong, you must agree working to improve the world is positive. Beliefs mean nothing, action does.

We are here to be here, and do as we choose... that is free will, and that is the heaven or hell we make it. Persisting on this ideal will only be for the better of humanity.

You ARE god, YOU control your destiny... exactly on the nose. The teachings were never to make god out to be a "sky daddy".. sky daddy controls... obviously there is no being looking down on me telling me to type this message, if the historical god existed I would be hit with a lightening bolt... but that just doesn't make any sense! Since sky daddy controls, it means you are NOT in control... it means you must follow the teachings because this illogical god of peace/fury is beyond your understanding... you must follow those who tell you what god's plans are, what he wants, what "he" will do if you disobey. Put in that context, its obviously the agenda of those in control being served.

Once you believe in sky daddy controlling you, and that man telling you HOW he's controlling you... you will submit to anything from the fear of god "might" cause harm... but god loves you... but he's gonna kick your ass if you say he doesn't exist... but its a loving ass kicking. Believing in something so non-sensical is a path away from the truth.

Life doesn't have to be hard, it doesn't have to be filled with "evil", it doesn't have to make you feel like ending it all, there is no joy in living only for tomorrow. Live now so that tomorrow may be even better!

God is not "in" us, he IS us... god is the essence of creation... back to the beginning of time at the moment this world "happened", "god" was there. We are the creator, we are the destroyer, we decide our own fate. We know we weren't planted here in the garden of eve.. we know of evolution... we know the truth, we just don't accept it out of fear.

    I'm not scared :)

Sex is part of love, no reason to be ashamed! Wanna talk about something that is without a shadow of a doubt "natural".... its not "natural" for all of the world to become monks. We wouldn't reproduce!!!

The argument must happen! The very idea of an all powerful/controlling god is tearing the world apart... that idea must cease! It has already proven itself a false. Sky daddy isn't coming down to slap you into submission... but people still wait in vain, while believing they themselves are naturally "bad" and can only be "human"... and of course the eternal my god is better than yours.

If we can simply end the "my god is better than yours" debate, we can move the world forward. It DOES matter what people believe!!!! People just have to look at history and learn... thousands of years we've been waiting for some sort of messiah... jesus was him, but accomplished nothing (nor did he exist...nor will he ever exist as the bible puts him).

Jesus is the ideal human being... not the bible jesus, but the story of him period. The basic path and meaning of his life. We aren't supposed to perform miracles and all that jazz... you aren't going to feed hundreds with one piece of bread, at least not very well. The stories are symbols... changed and misunderstood for centuries.

Jesus accepted responsibility for the entire human race... that is the point to his story. He did not fear his death, he did not try to stop it... his only mission was to better all of humanity.

That right there is the point of the story... not to make him out to be a god - he was the son of god, we all are. We are supposed to be like him, but he's made to be unachievable... we can't perform miracles, when we die we sure aren't coming back in this body 3 days later (misunderstood/edited reincarnation)... but when we die we are going to come "back" eventually... our energy transfers somewhere, perhaps to the seeds of the tree you are buried under.

    1. Open your eyes and look around you and SEE how life works.

    2. Read Zechariah Sitchen

    3. Keep MIND open.

After much study and thought, my personal opinion is that the spiritual or mythical "god" and the "devil" are two sides of the same coin. Negative and positive, yin and yang, yes and no, right and wrong, up and down....

I think the REALITY of the situation is that "gods" were our alien ancestors.

i have read a few of the replies and i must say, this is why i love this website. see... i was atheist / agnostic for the past 4 years, with no strong religion beforehand. but i have found... for me atleast... the best answer to lifes questions are in god. not christianity god, definately not a man with a beard becuz that is just silly... i thought god created man how can god be a man? Lol silly christians.. but no the answers on here are what i adore because i find a lot of truth in the energy thing, where you create a positive energy and get one in return kind of deal.. probably helps that i strongly beleive in karma ;)

but yeah, to each his own, im not a preacher so im not gonna tell you what to believe in, im just tellin you what works for me.. and the way i look at it, i want the best for myself right? so what if god is not real.. if i can somehow find something to have faith in that is going to making me a more positive person... i dont see why not.

and sorry fi this post was confusing i was trying to condense my thoughts but also let u know what i think so it prolly doesnt make any sense.

of course there is death, are you refering to " matter cannot be destroyed only changed" but obviously death exists ( end of the physical life of somthing), but it depends on if you believe the soul is seperate from the body( or if there is a soul at all)

I'm not ashamed, I simply wanted to say to love ichother like human beeings in a spiritual way. Sex is not spiritual and it will never be because our body need it not our soul. Our body it is material not spiritual so sex it isn't spiritual. And I don't think that is natural for all of us to be monks :)
Man I complitly agree with you.

The arguement "prove there is a God" is a foolish one at best, and I will explain why:
1.) you make someone else give grounds to support what they beleive but you, yourself refuse to. The arguement "science disproves God" is a false assumption. Evolution has yet to be proved, it is a theory that sounds scientific, and makes it so one doesn't have to beleive in a "god". Before evolution, there were no atheists. The closest thing was a Deist, who beleives God made the universe, then let it be. Show us your "proof". Do some research, get your hands dirty. Otherwise, shut up. Stop trying to get everyone else to do your homework for you.
2.) The way the question was phrased shows a lack of any substantial arguement. "There is no God, prove me wrong". Like you don't have to show proof? "Doughnuts taste good, prove me wrong". "War is good/bad. Prove me wrong".
3.) You refute every TRUE arguement that they come up with because it doesn't go along with what you were taught in school. You assume public schooling can't be wrong.

There is my arguements against the questioning. Now, consider the following:

1.) The Bible follows historical data. It recorded historical fact before archeologists discovered it. All records of kings and emporers and the times they ruled match up with historical data. Even the lost cities of Sodom and Gamorrah are thought to have been found.
2.) The Bible is geographically correct. You can make a map on how the Bible describes thing and it will match up perfectly with a modern map.
3.) The Bible is scientificly correct. It makes several claims such as "The life of the flesh is in the blood"... But this was made thousands of years before this was discovered as a scientific truth. Until the 16th or 17th centrury, it was beleived that blood was generally useless.

So if the Bible is correct on these fronts, then why would it automatically be assumed it is incorrect on God and Jesus? For a book that old to remain that correct, seems there would be more at work than some crazy writers, kings, and others who thought they were talking to God...

I'm an atheist and I believe in all kinds of things... just not god. The things I believe in tend to be more of a factual nature.

And I doubt your atheist friends are cheering that there's no point to life. They probably just want to know the truth, and they probably each have discovered their own point to life.

Have you ever met god? The bible could have been about anything else, it just happens to have been about god. If the bible was about how to change motor oil would you make motor oil your new religion?

I duuno, man. I'm a Christian, myself, and I think you made good points with the first part of your argument, but I don't think arguing the historic, geographic and scientific accuracy of the Bible is a winner. There are passages in the Bible that indicate the earth is flat with corners, that evening and morning were created before the Sun, that the stars were created after the earth, that there was light before the sun and stars, that some insects have four legs, rabbits chew their cuds, and that the Sun stood still while Joshua "fit" the battle of Jerricho. Even in the early days of Christianity, theologians recognized this stuff couldn't be taken literally. It's true that the functions of the circulatory system weren't known until the seventeenth century, but I seriously doubt that blood was generally considered "useless" until then. People have been bleeding to death on the battlefield for a long time, and I think they got the connection. Where did you get this information? According to the International Standard Bible Encyclopedia entry on "Blood":"Although the real function of the blood in the human system was not fully known until the fact of its circulation was established by William Harvey in 1615, nevertheless from the earliest times a singular mystery has been attached to it by all peoples. Blood rites, blood ceremonies and blood feuds are common among primitive tribes". As for history and geography, the site of ancient Troy has been discovered, and there is evidence that King Arthur was a real person. Does this substantiate the truth of Homer's Illiad, or prove that the Knights of the Round Table really did all the daring deeds attributed to them? In "The Bible Unearthed", archeologists Finkelstein and Silberman report a dearth of archaeological evidence for Exodus. David's empire, or Solomon's great temple. But I agree that whether or not the Bible is correct or incorrect on these points is a basis for assuming it is incorrect on God and Jesus.

man it is not abouth proveing the existance of god it is about having a faith, You can easily have faith in something if you can prove it it is harder to belive in something you can't prove. And the bible it's not a story it is phylosophy and changeing motor oil it's not phylosophy so you can't compare that two things :)
