An open mind is the correct attitude.

But like an open mouth, you've got to pay attention to what flies in there.

Your idea of what "god" really is, is wrong, no wonder why you don't believe.

the fact that you base all of this off the bible tells me a lot. the bible doesn't mean shit, it just controlled masses.

that's why i don't like using the word god, it's been ruined.

I have noticed a trend of people turning to atheism. I don't have anything against anyones belief. But what strikes me funny is how many of the new atheists are in their teens. Is this a sign that people are waking up, or is it a sign that atheism is just a way for young adults to be added to specific social groups?

Turning to atheism seems to be more of a way to be edgy and popular than anything more significant. You can say this about many beliefs, but I have noticed that atheism is IN, now.

    It's just a popularity contest.

I wouldn't say athiesm is 'in'. We are the least trusted religious group, and face passive-aggresive discrimination in a number of environments.
When i went to highschool (a mere three years ago, yet soo far away), there weren't athiest groups (although the gothy kids did stick together, and were usually non-christian ((though most were panthiests, satanists, and agnostics))). Christians, on the other hand, have youth groups, church activities, and social signals (they worse similar jewerly, rings and crosses usually). Athiests are usually non-joiners by a rule, and we usually don't have a social support network the way other religions do.

as for athiests tending to be teenagers: When you're in your teen years, you question the rules, traditions, and beliefs of your society (at least the more observant do, some people can't help how god made them*). You are also pretty removed from Death, and aren't at terms with your own mortality (at least in more prosperous countries like the US). So the ability to actually be an athiest (the drive to question, and the lack of a fear of death ((compared to say, a soldier in a foxhole, or someone on their deathbed))), is most present during these years.

*figure of speech, i don't believe god created anybody.

God knows everything and is all-powerful, therefore it is entirely up to God to prove Its existence. So why ask a man for proof? Ask God -- that's the only way.

The lack of proof for God's existence is no reason not to believe, anyway. Profound belief and understanding of God allows one to view the world in a way that one otherwise could not. One is free to choose this lifestyle if one so desires.

thats your definition :) which also is impossible for anyone else to understand because words cant really communicated your feelings, you are also putting human qualities onto god and thats kind of contradictory

Here in Oklahoma, the Buckle of the Bible Belt, I seldom meet atheists or hear atheist views expressed. That's one of the main reasons I, as a Christian, am on Hip Forums. I think the recent interest in atheism and the rash of atheist best seller books by Dawkins, Harris, Hitchens, etc., is a reaction against the growing power and excesses of the religious right.

Man why don't you understand I'm trying to explain to you to read the bible there you will find philosophy and motr oil is not philosophy.I understan your revolt I had it before two-three years but than I started to realise the bible the bible is learning you metaphoricly how to have beter life not that there is a sky daddy man don't be so stuverhead and don't talk nonsence. You may not understand me now but you will someday I hope, defite your anger and you will feel so much beter and even understand what the fuck I'm tallking. And as you can not prove that god existe you can not prove that it doesn't so don't boder. Musoliny said : 'if there is god I give him 5 minutes to hit me whit tunder.' but he forgotet that even if there is god he will not do it because hi is perfecly good. You are in your teens and you have anger but you should defite your anger if you want a beter life.

What a stupid thing to say! If the motor oil saved people like Jesus, gave eternal life and hope and love, then perhaps I might consider it!

If that is your best argument then you really should do some more reading! You will see one day, hopefully before it is too late.

Jesus doesn't save anybody. He's dead. Just like all of the masters before him died. Masters who have passed from earthly existance do NOT accept new disciples as a general rule. There are exceptions, but not many.

Christianity is nothing but embalming in an attempt to make him look alive.

Admire his teachings, love what he stood for, and then seek the living. You're not going to find what you seek among the dead.

Yes, Jesus died to save people. Have you not read the Bible, you really should before trying to prove God doesn't exist or whatever you are trying to prove.
