how did it get so bad? I wonder just how much it'll take to finally get people off their asses. I can't believe there are people out there that simply don't care. I think its gonna have to be something fucking huge to even spark their attention.

i think we might of ran out of WAR revolutions

might still do them because everone seems to want to be a copycat

but we whould probably be better if you explored some way to do it that we didnt explore already

or didnt explore that much or often

Of course we need a revolution.
Every system that been in power long enough will inevitabley become corrupt.
Power corrupts the weak, and only the weak seek such power.
It's an inevitable cycle, but it's one we are unfortanatley in.
Kill the government, start a new one.
    Repeat to fade...

It's a sad fact, but even a government run initially with the best of intentions will one day become corrupt.

Evolution would be nice, but unfortunately the chances are unlikely. It would be lovely if the big guns decided to implement plans to legalize marijuana, curtail war on drugs, and look out for the common people. But they're getting richer and richer if the system continues, so it wont' happen.
REvolution is bound to happen. The financial crisis could of been our chance to destabilize central power and take some for ourselves, but we can only see what the future brings. Revolution would be scary considering all the countries that would love for the US to be in civil unrest.

The human political and social condition has not substantially changed in 10,000 years, nor will it change in the future as long as there are those who want more than their share or who are willing to take what they want instead of earning it. The only difference between us and the Stone Age is that our stones are more sophisticated.

In order for the situation to change, the "revolution" will have to be internal to the human species, not external to it. I have no idea what that will be ... some sort of bio-engineering, maybe. I don't know.

I'm not saying that it's hopeless to work with what we've got, only that any talk of a "revolution" is pointless because the fault isn't in our stars, but in ourselves.

To me the society that uses killing people as an option for foreign policy(war) is barbaric and is not very advanced. USA has a pretty big collective ego as it faces the world.

The power belongs to the people but, when will the people take off their chains?

There will be a revolution. Society as it is is a ticking time bomb waiting to go off. Things are getting out of control. The people will only take so much. They will become enlightened and rebel against those that try to control them for their own agenda. The meek shall inherit the earth. People will grow and evolve, shedding this materialistic and hateful lifestyle. Love and cooperation will be the peoples driving force. It will happen, watch and see...maybe on tuesday. :p

No seriously, something big is going to happen. It has to.

I beg to differ,:toetap05: it's the whole world thats in trouble. The mainstream media refuses to recognize half the problems in the world. Too many people are consumed with greed and hatred towards one another. :(

There are two paths to global evolution:
    1. Crisis, wars, revolutions, violence, chaos, etc.
    2. The peaceful and sensible way.

We seem to be on the first one and the crossroads are running out.

I remember well the 60's and the 70's revolution to end the war in Viet Nam. I also remember when the price of sugar and gas went sky high and people stopped buy it and that brought down the price very fast.

The people have so much power but they are to sleepy and they are not paying attention to what is going on.

I think there does need to be a revolution. We need to get our country back on track. We can, we have to, do this during the congressional elections of 2010 and the presidential election of 2012. For the next few years we just need to hold on and prevent too much damage from being done, then we maybe can make some changes, fix some of these problems that we see everyday.

I'd like to see a revolution. I'd say things are fucked up enough, wouldn't you?

so do you think we should try and instigate this "revolution"? how would someone do that? Do people make the revolution happen, or does the revolution make the people happen?

I think Americans' desire to conform will prevent them from taking any action.

Plus, as much as Americans are lazy, they are even more frightened of change. A revolution is a HUGE event when it comes to change. What would probably happen, if anything, is that we have an uprising, we get rid of the old guard, and then put into place a new system which is identical to our current one.

The problem is that our "civilized" ideals are inherently unsustainable. I mean, we advocate that everyone has the freedom to reproduce uncontrolled. That can't go on forever. We believe that, once born, everyone has a right to go on living. I think that there are circumstances under which a person forfeits that right, and we need to have the stomach to take it away from them.

Basically, the problem is that our system is designed to support itself. It is designed to create a population of individuals dependent on the system. The small percentage of people who aren't don't generally involve themselves in it because they have the money and power to do basically whatever they want.

Really, is a population of welfare recipients going to rise up and say that the system that supports them is wrong and needs to be changed? I don't think so.

And the vastly outnumbered wealthy are going to just keep taking advantage, knowing that to seek overthrowing the government would simply anger the welfare-drawing customers lining their pockets.

Yes, the system needs to be changed. And, yes, it will collapse on its own if we don't topple it. But I really don't see Americans as having the will, the confidence or the energy to do that.

I think the U.S. is in such a problem right now because of the younger kids being influenced by materialistic douchebags who think it's cool to walk around with giant chains around their necks. We need to show them what the world really is and that you don't need money or objects to be happy but you need love

It would be awesome to see a serious revival of the hippie movement and revolution which followed in hippie ideology.
